Position Title: Adjunct Faculty, Music Business School/Division: Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences-Humanties Full Time/Part Time: Part-Time Description: The Department of Music at Hofstra University is pleased to invite applications for one Adjunct Faculty of Music for Fall 2024 and Spring 2025. Hofstra University is located on Long Island near New York City (25 miles east of Manhattan), with its wealth of business, entertainment, and cultural opportunities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Teach Music Business Courses: MUSB 105 Advanced Seminar in the Music Industry and/or MUSB 108 Global Music Marketing in the Music Industry MUSB 105 Advanced Seminar: This is a capstone course in the music business program and encompasses all aspects related to being an artist in the music marketplace. This course utilizes the practicum learning model, applying concepts learned in the classroom through the implementation of real-world projects and assignments. Students form a musical group and traverse the course as a member of the group by writing, releasing, and promoting music in the marketplace. The successful candidate will oversee and manage student teams to: Assess, create and/or affiliate with various professional business entities and partners. Compose, record, release and market an original and cover song. Book, perform, and promote a record release concert. Produce and release a music video for an original song. Create and implement various marketing assets. Develop and execute a marketing plan for your release. MUSB 108 Global Music Marketing in the Music Industry: This is an immersive course designed to provide students with hands-on experience and practical skills in the field of music business marketing. Through experiential learning, industry engagement, and applied projects, students will be able to apply theoretical concepts learned in previous coursework to real-world scenarios within the music industry. The successful candidate for MUSB 108 will successfully teach students to: 1. Gain a firm understanding of the foundational best practices involved with successful global music marketing campaigns. 2. Cultivate an integrated approach to music marketing in the areas of Publicity, Touring, Radio, New Media, Advertising, Distribution, Grassroots and Licensing. 3. Establish and measure outcomes using relevant tools to assess audience exposure and financial performance. 4. Develop a comprehensive marketing campaign implementing the various components of integrated global marketing strategies. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree And/or equivalent professional experience working in the music industry in the field of artist management, product management, or music marketing.
