Consequently, the undergraduate curriculum in Art History, with its global perspective, is one of the most diverse disciplines in the humanities. Through Art History, students learn how to describe and interpret a range of objects including sculpture, painting, photography, architecture, and 'new media' such as video and performance art. These skills, along with the program's intense focus on writing and verbal expression, prepare students to think critically and to express themselves clearly at a time when visual communication is becoming ever more important. More information on the department: https://www.humanities.uci.edu/arthistory/ Under the direction of the Department Chair, Graduate Program Director, and the Department Manager, the Graduate Coordinator applies professional student services concepts to support the PhD Program in Visual Studies and the 4+1 MA Program in the Department of Art History. Responsibilities include: coordinating the application and recruitment process; supervising graduate students in hosting their annual symposium; making arrangements for arrival of new students each fall. Analytical assignments consist of: creating and maintaining graduate student records; monitoring students' academic activities and investigating/correcting anomalies; gathering, interpreting and reporting data as requested, tracking and reporting separate groups of expenses. This individual also develops the schedule of classes for Visual Studies, documents curricular changes, serves as the department's webmaster, and coordinates all events. Additionally, incumbent will perform other administrative duties as assigned. The Full Salary Range for the salary grade this position is assigned to is $24.71 - $41.86 (Hourly Rate). Department Website: Art History | UCI School of Humanities Required: 1-3 years' similar work experience required. Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training. Ability to multi-task; verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills. Multicultural competencies: ability to work with diverse populations. Ability in problem identification and reasoning. Skills in service orientation, organization, active listening, and critical thinking. Knowledge of University processes and procedures. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel. Experience with expense tracking. Preferred: Knowledge of advising and counseling techniques. Knowledge of University-specific computer application programs and pertinent databases. Basic knowledge of student immigration and visa processes pertaining to international students and scholars. Understanding of University rules and regulations. Experience in coordinating special events for students.
