Lead MRI Technician and MRI Research Center Supervisor | University of Chicago (UC) - Military Veterans

Location: Chicago, IL Job Description: Facilitates the efficient operation and delivery of radiological services in the MRI-Research Center, consistent with institutional and departmental goals, objectives, policies, and federal, state and local third party regulations. Directs Quality Control Performance Improvement activities and monitors quality and performance indicators. Upholds the standards of the system-wide customer service program. Participating in training programs and instructing in the specific technologies and equipment. Develops Performance Improvement (P.I) programs to improve service/productivity. Manages the Quality Control/Quality Assurance programs and participates in utilization reviews. Maintains current knowledge of new procedures, equipment and methods and participates in their evaluation testing and application. Recommends procurement of supplies/equipment and necessary modifications. Encourages and assists in continuing education and research at the technologist level. Assists the MR Imaging Manager to facilitate staffing, management, and performance evaluations of technical and support staff. Prepares statistical and management reports, analyses, and surveys as necessary. Providers patient care consistent with an MR Technologists consistent with performing a variety of diagnostic procedures utilizing high-energy magnetic fields, preparing, and positioning patients, selecting proper technical settings, participates in computer based post-processing of scan data, and uses the computer to record the status of each patient. Maintains and monitors the patient environment, adheres to safety procedures associated with radiation protection, and contributes to the security and maintenance of the unit. Prepares contrast media, performs venipuncture, and administers contrast to research subjects under the direction of physicians and research scientists. Organizes and runs MRI safety training sessions. Develops new tests and evaluates new technology for implementation in diagnostic testing. Has full authority in managing a database of clinical patient records and results, and maintains an inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents. Prepares quality and safety control measures for the laboratory, such as checks of equipment, temperature control, and documentation of quality improvement projects. Under a limited degree of supervision, provides support to clinical research studies. Performs other related work as needed. Preferred Qualifications Experience: Minimum of three years experience as technologist. Prior supervisory experience strongly preferred. Preferred Competencies Basic knowledge in relevant scientific field. Ability to learn new research techniques or methods. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Verbal and written communication skills. Working Conditions Remote or Office based.
