Job Description:

Purpose of the role:

The role of the Maintenance Technician is primarily to support the running of all production lines on site by resolving breakdowns and by delivering planned and preventative maintenance. Secondly, they are also required to drive improvement across the site in terms of new machinery, quality, and performance.

Key Tasks and Activities:

Responsible for all reactive and proactive maintenance work, whilst making sure it is carried out to the highest possible standards across the whole of the site.

  • Expected to carry out maintenance across the site.
  • Attend to breakdowns onsite ensuring that there is always a rapid response and that plant equipment and machinery breakdown time is minimised. Always endeavour to reduce downtime of site plant and machinery.
  • Carry out repairs to plant and equipment during production, effectively and efficiently.
  • To carry out PPM's, whilst always ensuring that there is a pro-active approach to planned maintenance and a high PPM output.
  • To retrain in new methodology, technology and engineering techniques as the business needs arise.
  • To carry out workshop duties such as machine repairs, ensuring the availability of critical spares and component manufacture.
  • Deliver improvement work on machinery to increase plant OEE.
  • Adherence to the Greif UK Safety, Health and Environmental (S, H & E) Policy, taking an active role in the Health and Safety requirements on site on behalf of the Maintenance department.
  • Complete any other reasonable tasks or requests as required.

Expertise and Experience and Education:

Expertise- Personal attributes which include tenacity, resilience, a positive disposition, a 'can do' attitude, assertiveness, and a high degree of determination to succeed. Experience
  • Qualified to HNC/NVQ Level 3 standard in an electrical or multi skilled discipline.
  • Hands on, multi-skilled experience on automated machines within a continuous manufacturing environment.
  • Working experience of integrated systems.
  • Working experience of Automatic Packaging & Palletisation systems.
  • Knowledge of PLC equipment and experience of Siemens S7/TIA.
  • Knowledge of AC invertors and/or servo drive systems.
  • Safety-driven.
  • Team worker with the ability to work under own initiative.

Education - Essential

Electrical engineering-based apprenticeship or equivalent experience and qualified to HNC/NVQ Level 3 standard in an electrical discipline.

Education - Desirable HNC/NVQ Level 3 multiskilling qualification.

Language:

Excellent verbal and written skills. Needs to be a good communicator who can understand complex issues and communicate them succinctly to non-experts.

Computer Skills: Computer literate (Microsoft Excel, Office and Teams
