Position Summary: Reports to the Assistant Dean/Director of the Career Center. Counsels students and alumni via one-to-one sessions on complex career issues and individual career development plans that may include academic major and career decisions, critiquing resumes, cover letters, other job search correspondence, practicing interviewing skills and career readiness. Performs student engagement initiatives; responsible for creating, implementing, and executing seminars, classroom presentations, programs and events that strengthen student career readiness. Administers and interprets vocational and personality inventories and utilizes career guidance software. Provides, program development and advising for students applying to graduate school including pre-health professions, pre-law and general graduate school applicant process. Works on collaborative and specialized programming with faculty, student services professionals, campus clubs and organizations. Establishes relationships with alumni to serve as mentors and/or as potential employers. Acts as a liaison between the Career Center and designated academic departments. Provides resolution to an assortment of problems of moderately complex scope. Demonstrates good understanding of the theoretical and applied bases for particular field of specialization. Minimum Education and Experience: Requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in counseling, educational psychology, social work, human resources or a related field and a minimum of two years of experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of career counseling theories and methodologies for individuals and groups. City: Camden State: NJ Equipment Utilized: This position requires excellent technical skills with the knowledge of Microsoft Office platforms, a working knowledge of Excel, career development software and knowledge of other on-line assessments including the Strong Interest Inventory and Myers Briggs on-line assessments. Position will become familiar and comfortable in using all facets of the Handshake System.
