Location: Minneapolis Full/Part Time: Full Time Employment Condition: Unlimited Job Description: Minneapolis College, a vibrant and inclusive two-year community college in Minnesota, is accepting applications for the permanent, full-time position of Communication Studies Instructor in the Communication Studies Program within the School of Liberal Arts and Cultures . Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Teaching a full-time (5/5 load) in college-level courses in Communication Studies, primarily college-level introductory courses. Participation in the development and implementation of curriculum and instructional materials within the Communication Studies department. Participating in student assessment. Assessment of student learning outcomes at the course, department, Transfer Pathway in Communication Studies, and college general-education levels. Actively engaging in the college community through committee work and inter-departmental collaboration. Development and revision of courses and instructional materials. Commitment to providing quality instruction and services to a very diverse student population. Commitment to consensus-driven decision making with colleagues in the Communication Studies Department. Collegial and cooperative work relationships with colleagues in the department, department support staff, and all college personnel. Teaching may involve both on-campus and online instruction. The schedule may include daytime, evenings, or Saturdays. Required Qualifications: Education Requirement Master's degree with a major in speech, speech communication, or communication, or communication studies or Master's degree in any discipline/field with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credits (27 graduate quarter credits) in speech, speech communication, or communication, or communication studies. Teaching and Learning Competency Requirement (to be completed within first three years of employment) Preferred Qualifications: Community College Experience two or more years of teaching experience in a community or combined community and technical college Autonomous classroom teaching experience in Introduction to Communication Studies, Public Speaking, Small Group Communication, Intercultural Communication, or Interpersonal Communication. Demonstrated teaching or background in any of the following areas: Environmental Communication, Gender, Argumentation, and Health Communication. Demonstrated commitment to diversity and evidence of a strong and clear understanding and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community colleges and their students, faculty, staff, administrators and communities they serve. Assessment experience with the development of assessment strategies and practices across all levels: classroom, department, and college. Service to the College a demonstrated willingness to participate through committee work and/or student activities. Student-centered demonstrated contributions to student growth and development through retention measures, student mentoring, and student activities. Social Responsibility experience with community outreach or service learning practices. Ph.D. in field. Benefits Info: Salary: Full time faculty salaries currently range from $40,912 $85,892 annually. Salary schedule placement is determined on the basis of education and experience and in accordance with the 2021 2023 Master Agreement between the Minnesota State Board of Trustees and the Minnesota State College Faculty.
