Vacancy ID: P016576 Position Summary/Description: Located within the Global Health and Infectious Disease unit this position is necessary to provide essential support for the ongoing experimental processes in the laboratory. Work requires advanced knowledge of applicable laboratory procedures, tests, techniques, and terminology. This position requires advanced-level research support, data collection, and data analysis. This position will provide research support by performing molecular biology techniques including nucleic acid extraction from blood and tissue specimens and PCR analysis, processing samples for DNA sequencing and sequencing analysis, and molecular cloning. This position will also provide support in mouse handling and restraint, mouse survival surgeries, performing experimental procedures on mice, conducting experiments, data analysis, and data entry. Additional duties include general laboratory care (autoclaving, dishwashing, stocking and inventory laboratory supplies), preparing common laboratory solutions and media. This position will provide technical troubleshooting and optimization in molecular biology. This position will also help provide training to new laboratory personnel in molecular biology and animal handling techniques. Education and Experience: Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
