Job Description
Summary
The Planning and Scheduling Engineer is responsible for supporting the construction Project Engineer in the oversight of all aspects of coordination of the contract schedule, deliverables, and work activities for assigned projects. This position will be dedicated to supporting large construction activities in the US and Canada. This individual will provide direct daily planning and scheduling support to a large construction project in Gum Springs, Arkansas in the near term and additional projects as business needs change over time.
Primary Duties / Responsibilities
Manage the day to day planning/scheduling of the activities associated with the construction of a $300 Million hazardous waste incinerator
Provide planning and scheduling support for the project team that support the activities associated with the construction project
Assists in the coordination of both design and construction activities at the site Works with existing operations team and on site contractors to ensure that work is properly coordinated and done safely.
Works to create a collaborative work environment
Work closely with Designers and Project Managers to develop and maintain detailed resource loaded schedules of Design/Build construction projects utilizing project management software.
Integrate multiple schedules into a master project schedule, base line, status, and perform measurement baseline.
Anticipate manpower loading and adjust contractors accordingly based on varying conditions, priorities, interferences Manage to critical path, by always identifying and prioritizing the critical path tasks
Develop and maintain summary level schedule reports: Gantt, milestone charts, and other tools used to support critical path analysis, near-term tasks work, priority based resource allocations, performance variances, and to support cost/schedule integration.
Gather and analyze information to prepare reports on the progress of projects.
Support the project management team in the planning, tracking, analysis, and reporting of projects Work in collaboration with the project management team to drive consistency of the project scheduling approach to facilitate accuracy in project execution and reporting. Troubleshoot and monitor potential scheduling problems Manage logistics of material management, storage and staging to optimize warehouse costs while protecting materials (Just in time delivery for example).
Assure that QA/QC tasks are included in the schedule and completed.
Maintain accurate records/paperwork.
Facilitate and participate in weekly schedule reviews.
Qualifications
Education / Experience / Background
Bachelor of Science in Construction Management
Minimum of 3 years of construction project planning & scheduling experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience using MS Project or Primavera P3 or P6 and MS Excel
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Superior interpersonal and demonstrated facilitation skills., Creative and innovative with assignments. Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in work style to better respond to multiple requests/tasks and handle sudden changes in priorities. Able to embrace and participate in change initiatives. Strong organizational, analytical, and writing skills, including solid experience in writing functional and technical specifications. Demonstrated commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations, the Company's Code of Business Conduct, and other Company policies and procedures Valid Driver's license and safe driving record
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
This position will require work in an office and a construction site/industrial facility environment. Ability to stay on feet for several hours during the day, walking through construction site Ability to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally Ability to climb ladders, climb on equipment Ability to pass a respirator fit test and maintain certification annually, work with a respirator as required Ability to work in a confined space (with proper training and safe work practices) Ability to work above grade Ability to work in extreme climate conditions (rain, wind, snow, ice, heat)
