The District Field Service Manager has responsibility for the service business within the assigned district and for leading the activity of all field service engineers to achieve the district’s service support objectives and business plan. Serves as owner and point of contact for escalated service activity within the district. Responsibilities include achieving/exceeding assigned installation, maintenance and repair targets through effective coaching and development of employees, identifying and implementing process improvements and changes to increase the group’s effectiveness and value to its customers, and managing the team's job performance and career development.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Plans, directs and coordinates the daily activities of service personnel to achieve service and business objectives

  • Communicates with other department managers to identify potential improvements in the quality of services and/or support provided

  • Ability to defuse internal and external customer/employee situations

  • Identifies service, technical and workflow skills assessment and mentoring to the team.

  • Develops and tracks performance objectives for the team and effectively addresses and resolves employee issues

  • Demonstrates effective communication skills, either through team interactions or presentations to clearly articulate business objectives strategies

  • Effectively strategizes and drives business objectives

  • Responsible for meeting/exceeding business objectives (Revenue/Orders/Margin/OP).

  • Handles district company assets including inventory, company cars, and tools.

  • Establishes a regular cadence of activity reports for the purposes of driving business and proficiency improvements.

  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, goal setting, evaluating performance, salary administration, and career development for the district.

  • Responsible to meet/drive all compliance objectives

  • Understanding of life science products and workflows.

  • Communicates regularly with sales colleagues to drive business objectives

  • Drives commercialization of SCIEX products

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree (A.S./A.A.S) or Bachelor's degree (B.S./B.A.) in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Engineering or equivalent experience

  • Current or prior experience working for manufacturing industry.

  • Using and/or servicing mass spectrometry or capillary electrophoresis scientific instruments is preferred .

  • Leadership experience managing a project, group and/or teams

  • Business acumen that includes budgeting, logistics and project leadership or management

  • Expert interpersonal skills both written and verbal

  • Meeting Vendor Credentialing requirements are an essential element of this position.

  • Leading, participating and finding opportunities for improvement applying DBS tools and or lean manufacturing principles.

  • Must possess strong management skills to effectively lead and direct Field Service Engineers to achieve district business objectives

  • Able to develop others through demonstration, coaching and counseling

  • Solid organizational skills and ability to set priorities and mange time effectively

  • Ability to identify customer needs and issues and develop realistic solutions to meet these expectations and solve problems

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Ability to influence and negotiate with others and resolve issues with employees and customers

  • Ability to find opportunities, risks, and resources required to deliver business results

  • Ability to manage and direct resources aimed at clearly articulated district business objectives

  • Ability to instill customer satisfaction that is recognizable and valuable to the customer

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid Driver's License required. Travel by vehicle or airplane within assigned geography, 30-50 % travel required.

  • US Midwest location is required preferably greater Chicago, Kansas City or St Louis.

  • Ability and willingness to lift up to 50 lbs

  • Requires ability to walk, climb, stand, carry materials, stoop, kneel, and bend at waist.

  • Exposed to seasonal weather based on geographic region

  • Exposed to moving parts and electricity that require safety protocols

  • Exposure to varied travel conditions either driving or flying. #LI-Remote
