Assistant/Associate Researcher - Brain Tumor Imaging Laboratory University of California Los Angeles Requisition Number: JPF07689 The Department of Radiological Sciences at UCLA is seeking an experienced researcher to join the Brain Tumor Imaging Laboratory as an Assistant or Associate Researcher. The position requires a PhD degree in medical physics, biomedical engineering, physics, or a related field and demonstrated track record conducting multinuclear, or X-nuclei, imaging (e.g. 23Na, 19F, 31P, 13C, etc.). The incumbent will oversee efforts to develop advanced MRI techniques for sodium imaging, especially with respect to signal enhancement and imaging speed. These efforts will include coordinating investigators and staff across multiple departments. In addition, the incumbent will be able to use dedicated CAD packages/pipelines for specific processing (e.g. Bash or python pipelines containing FSL, Freesurfer, AFNI, R, MATLAB, Osirix, or SPM scripts). Applicants should have good communication skills with demonstrated experience contributing to grant submissions and publishing manuscripts in high impact journals. Applicants are expected to secure independent funding for the Program as Principal Investigator. Responsibilities: The Department of Radiological Sciences at UCLA has an immediate opening for a Researcher. The candidate will manage the Department's Sodium Imaging Program and be responsible for: Develop MRI techniques for sodium imaging and implementing novel protocols for MRI projects; Developing novel pulse sequences for morphological and quantitative imaging; Assisting investigators with experimental design and data analysis; Providing technical and safety training and support including MR physics and data analysis; Programming on Siemens scanners; Conducting phantom and tissue specimen studies; Attending and preparing presentations for meetings.
