The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing and maintaining all payroll for the College. Provides information and assistance to all College employees, maintains all state tax filings, and generates weekly journal entries to record payroll and tax expenses.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Responsible for coordination and execution of payroll activities, maintaining scheduled payroll cycles, and overseeing the implementation of changes to the payroll system
Responsible for all payroll tax activities, including compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and overseeing the filing of local, state, and federal payroll tax returns by Heartland.
Maintain timekeeping and payroll processing including, time and attendance, and file maintenance;
Month-end, quarter-end and year-end reporting, report production, and ensuring compliance with all applicable state and federal laws;
Process employee hires, changes, promotions, and separations into payroll system;
Accurate 403(b) deduction processing through payroll and accurate payments to TIAA, including employer contribution calculations;
Develops payroll, and human resource reports as necessary;
Assist in 4030b) audit preparation working closely with AVP of Finance and Administration and the CFO.
Required Qualifications:
Education
Associates degree required
Experience
1 year office or business experience helpful
Skills and Knowledge
Excellent communication skills;
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Products;
Ability to multitask.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferred. 2-3 Years payroll processing experience preferred.
