Job Description:
GDIT is seeking a Project Manager for the NIH National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) Project Management Support Services contract. GDIT provides its clients at the NHLBI with project management and project coordination support. In this role, you will directly support the mission of the NHLBI Project Management Office (PMO) to enhance the Institute's project management skills by supporting high-priority, trans-NHLBI projects.
This position is primarily remote, but you must reside within commuting distance to the client site in Bethesda.
Work visa sponsorship will not be provided for this position.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Employ an advanced level of portfolio, program, and project management practices and support for NHLBI projects
- Work with stakeholders to ensure project requirements are defined to ensure project success
- Coordinate the project team to successfully initiate, plan, execute, monitor and control, and close assigned projects
- Develop, maintain, and monitor project charters, plans, schedules, and budgets and provide overall PM support to federal senior leadership
- Identify project milestones and define the tasks and required resources to achieve the milestones
- Develop monthly status reports with metrics and analysis to support forward-looking decision-making based on data; coordinate with other entities to ensure status reporting requirements are met
- Support senior-level working groups and meetings, including meeting minute capture, action item tracking, coordination, logistics, and materials preparation
- Identify and champion best practices in project management, including the development and use of templates, tools, and guides to create additional value and drive alignment and efficiencies for the team and client
- Monitor and evaluate project activities to determine effectiveness and make recommendations for changes and/or improvements when necessary
Required Qualifications and Duties:
- BA/BS (or equivalent experience) and a minimum of five years of related work experience
- Active Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Experience in executing projects to ensure they meet all scope, schedule, resources, and quality expectations through the entire project lifecycle
- Good understanding of project management principles and techniques and project management work experience in a biomedical, pharmaceutical, biotech, academic medical center, or health-related organization
- Must have experience developing project management processes, tools, and templates to strengthen organization's project management approach
- Experience supporting multiple projects at once
- Extensive familiarity and experience managing project budgets
- Ability to obtain a NIH Public Trust

- Experience and comfort in dealing with complex health and scientific and technical information beyond own area of expertise
- Experience in interacting with and presenting to federal senior leadership and scientists
- Ability to tailor communications to scientific, healthcare, and administrative audiences
