Position Specific Description

Come join our Corporate Environmental Services Team in expansion! We are seeking a Senior Environmental Specialist who has a passion for clean energy development. This position is in the Environmental Licensing & Permitting Section of the Corporate Environmental Services Department supporting new development opportunities for NextEra Energy Resources and other NextEra Energy affiliates.

Preference is for this candidate to be located in or near Oklahoma to work on projects within this state. Other ideal locations include the Houston, TX or Austin, TX area (or neighboring states). Routine out of state travel will be required.

The ideal applicant must have relevant Environmental Services experience with ability to lead, with limited direction, new corporate development opportunities and acquisitions in power generation, energy storage and transmission projects, including renewable energy facilities, transmission lines, fossil generating plants, and battery projects.

Primary responsibilities include:
• Obtain all required federal, state and local environmental licenses, permits and approvals for development projects in the Mid Continent and Midwestern Region (IA/MO) as well as providing other project support such as siting, community outreach, and voluntary tribal outreach.
• Manage licensing and permitting for new solar, wind, energy storage and transmission facilities in some of our most active development states.
• Support multiple projects with multifaceted environmental and regulatory issues and assist in comprehensive environmental due diligence reviews for potential acquisitions.
• Maintain current knowledge of pertinent national and state level environmental policies and regulations, interface with internal and external customers, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders, and be able to assist in resolving complex environmental matters.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state and local environmental regulations, as well as company policies.

Job Overview

Employees in this job are responsible for providing expert environmental support for new and existing facilities including due diligence, permitting, regulatory compliance, regulatory interpretation and development, and interface with Federal, State, and Regional agencies.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Supports the company's compliance with environmental requirements
• Performs comprehensive environmental due diligence reviews
• Assists with facility compliance audits
• Conducts environmental licensing and permitting activities
• Supports environmental aspects of company operations, such as, compliance, reporting, monitoring, remediation, and environmental permitting functions
• Monitors and analyzes environmental policies and regulations that affect the company and its customers
• Provides the necessary support to staff to resolve environmental matters
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
