Scheduled Hours 40 Position Summary Offering a 4-day / 10-hour work schedule option, Washington University Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose, and Throat) clinics are hiring new front desk team members. Excellent patient care starts from the moment a patient walks in the door, and we are looking for friendly faces to welcome patients as they begin their visit to our ENT clinics. Our patients present with many challenges and we work hard to give them the highest level of customer service and coordinated care in our multidisciplinary setting. Our front desk team members collaborate with clinical staff and with other team members working off-site to create a patient-centric experience. The Patient Service Representative II (PSRII) is responsible for capturing, updating and verifying patient demographic and current insurance information to ensure maximum reimbursement for the Otolaryngology department. PSRs also schedule patient follow-up visits for providers. The PSR will serve as a liaison between consumers (staff, patients, healthcare professionals and general public) and advocates the patientsâ™ needs. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities Responsible for working on pre-arrival alerts (i.e., insurance, referrals, etc.). Updates and verifies patient insurance, billing, and demographic information in EPIC for reimbursement for the patient visit. Checks eligibility either electronically or manually as needed. Collects fee for service (copay, deductible, self-pay, cosmetic services, consults and surgery pre-pays and past balances etc.) and records in EPIC. Checks patient in through EPIC and updates demographics and insurance; verifies referrals received, scanned, and linked to appointment. Schedules return patient appointments, testing, and procedures. Contacts insurance companies for pre-certification of tests and orders; arranges peer to peer as needed. Maintains familiarity with insurance companies and their reimbursement policies. Balances cash drawer daily and prepares daily bank deposits. Answers incoming department telephone line. Checks patient out and prints After Visit Summaries (AVS) for patient. OTHER FUNCTIONS: May float to other locations to cover as needed. Scans all documents from outside WU or clinical documents into medical record through EPIC. Uploads imaging disks to Lila. Performs other duties as assigned. Working Conditions This position will primarily work at West County MOB 4 but may float to other locations as needed. This position work will be fast-paced multi-physician office. Schedule may fluctuate to accommodate patient/physicians schedules. May involve high levels of stress as well as light lifting of office supplies. Work performed primarily sitting at a computer. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated interpersonal skills. Working knowledge of insurance and financial options. Friendly and polite customer service skills. Attention to detail. Ability to prioritize and organize work. Knowledge of general office equipment including computer, copier, scanner, and fax machine. Working knowledge of PC software and peripheral devices. Thorough understanding of patient confidentiality. Ability to follow written and verbal orders and accept responsibility. Excellent communication skills, positive attitude, and strong work ethic. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent high school certification. Three years of experience in billing systems and third-party claims and/or experience in a medical office setting or related customer service/office experience. Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements). Grade C06-H Salary Range $16.66 - $24.17 / Hourly The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
