Location: Onsite in Vista, CA

The Technical Lead, Manufacturing Engineering will work alongside mechanical, systems and quality engineers as well as manufacturing staff to develop, test and implement new and improved manufacturing and test processes as well as equipment necessary for the manufacture of an evolving product line of digital scanners. This position will be expected to manage all aspects of assigned projects from inception to production implementation, including implementation of continuous improvement ideas into all aspects of the Manufacturing operation in a medial device regulated environment.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop robust manufacturing processes for existing products, product changes, component obsolescence and enhancements, as well as related tooling and fixtures.
  • Establish and lead Process and Equipment Validation activities as required.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing Department Personnel to cultivate process improvement ideas to reduce lead/ cycle time on existing products
  • Develop and implement Poka-Yoke tools for the Operators - Remove variability
  • Provide “Design for Manufacturing” expertise and ensure smooth design transfer to production for existing product and process development projects.
  • Plan, lead and conduct training and troubleshooting support to Manufacturing personnel and continuous improvement activities.
  • Demonstrate ownership of Master Validation Plan (MVP)
  • Manufacturing/Operations representative on Material Review Board (MRB)
  • Create and maintain physical product labels
  • Partner with Supply Chain on Cost Reduction Initiatives
  • Ensure fixtures, parts and system issues are resolved quickly to minimize impact to productivity, OTD, and Takt.

Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or similar discipline and a minimum 5 years’ experience in an Engineering Role required.
  • Expertise in leading process validation activities, writing validation protocols and reports required.
  • Proven knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques and principles including root cause techniques.
  • Experienced in NPI and DFM a requirement
  • Familiarity with motion control, optical systems and digital imaging helpful.
  • Knowledge and experience with GMP, ISO and FDA Regulatory standards preferred.
