Lease Operator - Military Veterans

Contango is seeking Lease Operators for its Elk Basin field, located approximately 20 miles outside of Powell, Wyoming. The Lease Operator is primarily responsible for tracking production and pressures for all wells on assigned routes; performing lease and general well inspection, maintenance, repairs and equipment replacements; and reporting other maintenance, production, and health or safety information to the Production Foreman.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Responsible for completing daily lease operator routes to test wells to determine production rates and problems
  • Check gauges, maintain equipment and report daily production of assigned wells
  • Perform minor equipment repairs
  • Follow all health, environmental and safety programs and policies in performance of duties
  • Be an advocate for safety by operating in a manner that maintains and improves safety results

Essential Knowledge and Skills
  • Working knowledge of and aptitude for mechanical applications
  • Basic knowledge of standard production equipment, gas dehydrators, compressors, and LACT units
  • Ability to self-motivate and work independently under little supervision
  • Basic math skills
  • Basic computer skills and working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Uncompromising adherence and commitment to safety, integrity, ethics, and teamwork
  • Ability to take responsibility for actions and follow through on commitments

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous oilfield experience required

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to drive and work outside in all types of weather
  • Must be able to walk, stand, and otherwise navigate uneven rural terrain
  • Must be able to stoop, climb, carry instruments weighing up to 50 pounds, and wear various personal protective equipment
  • Must live within 40 miles of production location
  • Must have a valid Wyoming driver's license with an insurable driving record
  • Successful candidate must pass physical, drug test, and background check
