Job Summary The successful candidate will assist with projects in gene delivery vector engineering and neurotechnology development within the Gradinaru group in the Chen Building (glab.caltech.edu). This position will allow contributions to publications that can prepare for next career stages (e.g. advanced education or biotech). Essential Job Duties Prepare primary neurons for culture and assist with other cell culture-based experiments Microscopy (confocal and wide field) on both live and fixed specimens Software-based image analysis Oocyte injection, electrophysiology, and data analysis Molecular biology: cloning, construct generation Adeno-associated viral vector construction Conduct AAV injections, tissue sectioning, and immunohistochemistry Assays of nucleic acids for RNA-Seq experiments Statistical power analysis Work with the lab manager for general lab maintenance and organization Minor input to Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) protocols Work with lab members and OLAR for animal colony management Strategic planning of experiments Proofreading of manuscripts and grants Prepare data for manuscripts and grants Perform other related duties as assigned Basic Qualifications B.S. degree 5 or more years of relevant scientific research experience Must have thorough technical/scientific expertise, and advanced research project experience Preferred Qualifications M.S. degree 8 or more years of relevant scientific research experience Required Documents Resume To be considered for this position please visit our web site and apply on line at the following link: https://hr.caltech.edu/work/job_openings We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
