The Department of Pediatrics at Children??s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) and the Keck School of Medicine of University of Southern California (USC) seek a full-time faculty member for the position of Pediatric Pulmonologist. The ideal candidate would have an MD or MD/PhD, be board-certified in Pediatric Pulmonology, have significant clinical expertise, and qualify for a USC faculty appointment of Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics. The Division of Pediatric Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine have ten full-time and four part-time faculty members. Each faculty member has a clinical and academic profile that is tailored to their specific interests. The Division includes a Cystic Fibrosis Center, Pulmonary Function and Exercise Physiology Laboratory, Sleep Laboratory, Sleep Clinic and Positive Airway Pressure Clinic, Bronchoscopy Program, Home Mechanical Ventilation Program, Diaphragm Pacing Program and is affiliated with a large chronic care facility.  The Division faculty participate in several multidisciplinary clinics and programs which includes; Aerodigestive Center, Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia, Muscular Dystrophy Association Clinic, Diffuse Lung Disorder Clinic, Craniofacial Center, Fontan Clinic, and Sickle Cell Disease Clinic. The division has dedicated nurse specialists, respiratory care practitioners, social workers, dieticians, psychologists, a medical genetics counselor and research support staff. The Division has ACGME accredited fellowships in both Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine. The Pulmonology Clinic receives referrals from the entire southwestern region, with almost over 7,700 ambulatory patient visits per year. The Division staffs outreach clinics located throughout Los Angeles County.   The Pediatric Pulmonology program is ranked among the top 15 programs in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. Research in the Division is focused on cystic fibrosis, sleep and sleep related breathing disorders, sudden infant death syndrome, home mechanical ventilation, chronic lung disease of infancy, and pulmonary complications of sickle cell disease. Children??s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) is the top-ranked children??s hospital in California and among the top 10 in the nation for clinical excellence with its selection to the prestigious 2021 U.S. News & World Report Honor Roll. CHLA is a freestanding, private not-for-profit children??s hospital affiliated with the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California (USC). CHLA??s inpatient tower, the Marion and John E. Anderson Pavilion, opened in July 2011 and houses 317 beds. The Keck School of Medicine of USC was established in 1885 and has over 1,200 full-time faculties and is home to over 25 research-oriented basic and clinical academic programs. CHLA training programs include 341 medical students, 168 students who shadow, 90 full-time residents and 116 fellows. For the past 16 years, 96 percent of those graduating from the CHLA Residency Program passed the American Board of Pediatrics exam on the first attempt, well above the national average of 75 to 80 percent. The Pediatric Pulmonologist will be expected to provide clinical care, represent Pulmonology in CHLA committees, mentor fellows and junior faculty members, participate in medical and graduate medical education, and contribute to the overall academic rigor of CHLA and the Keck School of Medicine.  Specific roles for the Medical Director include: Patient Care: Provide and direct patient care and supervise trainees providing care in the Pulmonology Division and other clinical activities based on interest and expertise. Educational: Teaching responsibility for medical students, residents, fellows and faculty. Institutional Citizenship: Participate in the Division of Pediatric Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine as an attending pulmonologist and as a faculty member of the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California.
