The Department of Family Medicine (DFM) of the Keck School of Medicine of USC is seeking a full-time physician to join the serve as the Faculty Practice Medical Director. The ideal candidate will have 4+ years?? experience in primary care clinical administration and be skilled in business operations, practice development, clinician engagement, and quality improvement processes.  This candidate will advance division goals to provide patient-centered, comprehensive, high quality primary care while promoting wellness through innovative and holistic approaches for all ages. The candidate is expected to show evidence of qualifications through letters of recommendation, completion of an accredited residency training program, and California Medical Board certification and licensure.  Eligibility for appointment at the Assistant Professor level or higher is also required.  Salary will be commensurate with experience. Administrative Responsibilities: (Estimated 40% of time) Works closely with the Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs and Clinical Administrator to provide operational and administrative leadership for the DFM Faculty Practice. Directly supervises all clinical faculty (including medical and behavioral health clinicians) at each Faculty Practice Site Location. Works closely with operational leadership to maximize clinic workflow efficiency and maintain high standards in patient care. Meets regularly with all clinical faculty to provide feedback and support regarding several key areas of focus (professionalism, productivity, quality measures, etc.). In collaboration with Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs, identifies opportunities for leadership and professional development for all eligible clinical faculty. Responsible for reviewing and approving all requests for leave/time-off. Works with department administrative staff to coordinate clinical schedules to ensure all clinical sites maintain appropriate access for patient care needs. Oversees practice operations and innovations to increase quality of care, joy in practice, and patient satisfaction. Works closely with the Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs, Clinical Administrator, and administrative team to ensure accurate and timely billing of all clinical services performed at each clinic site. Recommends strategy for quality and process improvements, clinical expansion, and productivity growth. Participates in relevant departmental committees focused on clinic operations, clinical billing, and staffing. Directly supervises advanced practice clinicians. Serves as signatory and medical supervisor for the Yellow Fever Vaccine clinic within the Health System Travel Clinic site. Clinical Responsibilities:  (Estimated 60% of time) Builds and maintains an active outpatient panel. Obtains detailed and accurate medical histories from patients. Performs appropriate physical examinations, delineates problems, and records the information in the electronic health record. Develops patient-centered care plans that incorporate counseling on preventative medical care and psychosocial stressors as well as coordination of referrals to specialty care services. Performs and/or interprets laboratory, radiological, and other routine diagnostic procedures. Performs medical procedures/examinations such as: physical exams, minor procedures, pap smears, suturing and wound care and caring for adults and children with acute and chronic conditions. Provides continuity of care in the management of complex illnesses. Participates in after-hours call coverage for patients seeking medical advice. Performs other related clinical duties as assigned or requested.
