Requisition Number: F_220249 Department: School of Natural Resources-0844 Description of Work: The School of Natural Resources at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln ( UNL ) Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources ( IANR ) is seeking applications for a highly motivated and enthusiastic post-doctoral research associate. This 12-month (calendar year), postdoc researcher appointment will be expected to interview those practicing regenerative ranching about their motivations for practice adoption and tangible and intangible resultant costs and benefits. Focus groups with those enrolled in CRP or on CRP -eligible land will follow to assess their willingness to adopt the identified regenerative practices. The apportionment is 100% research. This position will be located in Lincoln, Nebraska. This position will be tasked with working as part of an interdisciplinary team that includes ecologists, economists, and conservation social scientists. This team is funded by a cooperative agreement with the Farm Service Agency to assess the potential of regenerative ranching practices for inclusion as mid-contract practices within the Conservation Reserve Program ( CRP ). The successful candidate will bring a background in social science methodologies, particularly interview and focus group data collection. Immediate opportunities exist for the postdoc to engage with stakeholders and develop interview methodology. Willingness to travel to study sites in the northern Great Plains and collaborate with research team members and colleagues at other institutions is expected, in addition to travel required for conferences and workshops. Minimum Required Qualifications: Ph.D., or have finished all requirements for Ph.D., in human dimensions of natural resources, sociology, or other related fields. Expertise related to agricultural social science or extension/outreach. Experience in interview and focus group implementation and analysis. Preferred Qualifications: Extensive experience regarding the Conservation Reserve Program. Experience writing scientific documents. Job Type: 12 Month (Faculty Only)
