Our new facility in the Research Triangle Park of NC will be one of Lilly’s most technically advanced manufacturing sites and will include robotic technologies, integrated OT and IT technologies, and advanced data collection and analysis platforms that will result in safety improvements, increased productivity, and variability reduction. 

As the Senior Automation Engineer - Device Assembly and Packaging, you will be supporting and managing state of the art device assembly and packaging lines crucial to Lilly's supply chain. 

Key Objectives/Deliverables:

  • Partner with Corporate Automation, Global Packaging, Automation Integrators, and Global Facilities Delivery to design, install, and qualify the new RTP device assembly and packaging lines.
  • Automation/Control Discipline and Technical Leadership – Partner with colleagues to lead the discipline through solution assessment, replication, and development.  Manage tools, engineering standards, master specifications and best practices. Provide technical coaching and consultation to other Lilly engineers, facilitate shared learning forums. 
  •  Lead the integration of these lines into the site data collection and SCADA layer.
  • System Administration ownership of these platforms including user access controls, automated alarm management, data capture and analysis, and system maintenance.
  • Manage and own the system security including data integrity.
  • Perform audits and periodic assessments of the systems to ensure compliance with Global Quality and Engineering Standards.
  • Lead the management and growth of the platforms as new process equipment and systems are added to the facility.
  • Partner with Corporate Automation for global initiatives including advanced data programs and cyber security.
  • Develop site procedures that will govern the packaging related control systems.
  • Be a champion for site safety activities, diversity/inclusion, ethics, and compliance.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 2+ years of experience in automation or process control

Preferred Attributes:

  • Experience on Rockwell Automation platforms or equivalent platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely
  • Significant experience and strong problem-solving skills in measurements, control (process and/or manufacturing), control systems, integration, and data.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to manage people and projects to deliver a common set of objectives
  • Knowledge of GMP and pharmaceutical manufacturing
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Operating Systems
  • Knowledge in Databases

Additional Information:

  • Position will be based out of Durham, North Carolina (RTP site)
  • 8-hour days - Monday through Friday, overtime and some weekend/holiday may be required for project support.
