Overview
General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems is looking for an experienced Sr. Test Engineer to join our Lincoln, NE organization. We are expanding rapidly and looking for motivated and creative individuals who want to help support and shape this organization as we grow. Primary responsibilities will include the implementation, management and oversite of test activity conducted in support of the Lincoln Facility. This consists of sub-element testing and full-scale testing of composite rocket motor cases, missile structures, composite overwrapped pressure tanks and other high performance composite structures Responsibilities will include development, planning, directing, of acceptance and development test activities. Substantial input and follow though of test improvement and growth activities.
GD-OTS provides reliable and affordable composite products to the defense and commercial aerospace markets. With more than 50 years of expertise, General Dynamics designs, develops, manufactures and tests a full range of composite missile and space structures, including rocket motors, pressure vessels, launch tubes and fuel tanks.

Responsibilities
- Work with program teams to ensure that required test efforts for their programs are conducted professionally, efficiently, and achieve all program objectives.
- Plan, direct, and document test activities. This includes technical input for the generation of test plans, test procedures, and test readiness reviews (TRR). Working with program teams and operations to conduct tests and documentation of post test actions.
- Work together with Project Engineering, Design Engineers, Quality Engineers, and Manufacturing Engineers, to identify failure modes and generate design validation plans. Direct and follow through with validation actions & present information and findings to program team for risk mitigation.
- Sufficient structural test background & understanding industry common practices to define required test equipment and tooling requirements to meet program requirements including any tooling, load frames, environmental conditioning equipment, data acquisition systems, hydraulic control systems, load and pressure transducers, strain gages, linear transducers, encoders etc.
- Ability to schedule, track, balance, & report out on many activities in a high paced high value demanding work environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Materials Engineering with at least five (5) years related experience.
- Experience with hand tools, measurement tools, general shop practices & safety procedures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with CAD Systems, instrumentation & data acquisition equipment, print reading, & Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.
