Power Plant Director | College of Saint Benedict/Saint John's University - Military Veterans

Manage the operation of the Power Plant including the following: Supervise staff of operating and maintenance personnel to provide heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), potable water, sanitary sewer, and plumbing services to all campus, monastery, and off campus buildings. Supervise inspection, preventive maintenance, and equipment repair and replacement programs on all equipment used to provide services to campus and monastery. Assign all repair work orders and prepare work schedules, supervise work execution to use assigned resources most efficiently. Maintain records of use and consumption, including all electrical, natural gas, fuel oil, and water throughout campus and monastery. Submit associated monthly reports. Assist in the development of plans and services to improve campus operations, including building and equipment design and selection, energy use, and utilization and comfort control methods  Direct the specifying, ordering, and inventory of all parts, materials, and suppliers required to maintain the campus in peak operating condition, Work within the framework of campus material handling guidelines to achieve objectives. Assure a safe, healthful environment for students, staff, residents, and guests of the campus, monastery, and monastery owned properties. Ensure that all systems are operated in a safe manner and that all system components in compliance with OSHA and other agencies. Prepare annual operating, personnel, and capital budgets for all assigned areas. Assist in preparation and updating of campus budgets. Perform other duties throughout campus as assigned by the Director of Facilities. Oversee the campus wide elevator maintenance contract, annual inspections, and emergency calls. Oversee the annual testing of all campus fire suppression systems and be available for emergency calls. Oversee campus Siemens system controlling HVAC and electrical systems. Provide utility locates (Gopher State One Call) for on campus utilities. Oversee required testing and reporting for swimming pool. Post-secondary education in mechanical/electrical maintenance, boiler operations, HVAC, plumbing, or related field  Valid Chief Grade B Operating Engineer's License or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire. Minimum 5 years' experience in Power Plant Operations, including: ability to read and follow blueprints, electrical diagrams, and control schematic drawings; demonstrated knowledge in use of diagnostic equipment, including volt-ohm meters, multi-meters, tachometers, etc.; skilled in testing, inspecting, troubleshooting and adjusting or repairing a variety of digital, pneumatic and electrical equipment  Effective supervisory skills and experience  Ability to operate a computer to utilize email and basic tasks  Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with minimal supervision Effective communication and interpersonal-relations skills to work professionally with the Monastery, staff, and students Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including: ability to lift (up to 50 lbs.), carry, push or pull a variety of tools, equipment and materials; ability to climb, stoop, kneel and crouch to gain access to equipment, wire and pipe; good motor coordination and manual dexterity; good vision, depth perception and color recognition; ability to tolerate noise and vibrations from operating machinery; and knowledge and ability to work safely with or near potentially hazardous chemicals and materials PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Vocational or bachelor's degree  Demonstrate progress towards a Class C Water Operator's License. Certified Pool Operator certification issued by State of Minnesota Experience with Siemens control systems
