GENERAL PURPOSE:

The position of Solution Architect II (Enterprise Technology Architecture) reports directly to the Senior Manager of Enterprise Architecture and is based in Dublin, CA. Responsible for driving IT strategy, roadmap including evaluation, selection and solution architecture (technology) to address needs of the IT and business portfolios (such as Supply Chain, Stores). Highly visible role with a broad engagement within Ross IT and business teams as well as externally with technology providers. The Technology Architect is hired in an Individual Contributor capacity.

The base salary range for this role is $121,700 - $207,950. The base salary range is dependent on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards vary by position and location.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Provides enterprise level architecture consultancy including thought leadership and technical guidance for strategic projects across programs and business portfolios.

• Addresses key enterprise architecture aspects, including feasibility insights, business processes and strategies, value streams, and how supporting technologies fit together and evolve over time.

• Conducts TCO and ROI analysis to help understand and convey the financial impact of architecture solutions and strategies.

• Prepares and conducts presentations of architecture solutions and strategic proposals to a wide audience including executives.

• Participates in the 5-year planning and annual budgeting process. Provides actionable recommendations on initiatives to drive targeted business outcomes. Tracks technology lifecycle and influences 5-year plan to account for technology obsolescence and risk.

• Collaborates with IT and Business Partners to define enablers in the roadmap plan that explore technical options and build the architecture runway and provide early feedback to meet roadmap milestones.

• Works with peer architects (enterprise, domain, and security) to analyze business context (business strategy and trends), as well as other architecture viewpoints (such as information and solution) to develop the future state technology architecture. This includes defining the requirements, principles and models that guide technology decisions for the enterprise.

• Facilitates the research, evaluation, and selection of hardware and software technology and product standards, as well as the design of standard configurations.

• Develops, documents, and maintains technology architecture standards and patterns.

• Ensures work produced is aligned with other Enterprise, Application and Portfolio architects, providing holistic enterprise solutions.

• Ensures completion of Architectural and project deliverables on time and under budget and that anticipated business outcomes are achieved.

• Creates solution designs that leverage Ross architecture standards and services that can meet key project design criteria (Availability, Recoverability, Scalability, Performance characteristics) and can be properly supported by the IT engineering, support and operations teams throughout the project's lifecycle.

• Provides architectural and technical input for definition, estimation and delivery of projects.

• Works frequently with external resources or 3rd parties such as IT System Integrators and Software/Hardware vendors to assess technology required to develop a solution for a current problem statement as well as new and emerging technology that can provide strategic value.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 10+ years' experience in information technology (IT), technology solutions, infrastructure technologies, architecture, and/or consulting. OR equivalent experience

• Have a deep understanding of end-to-end supply chain functions (Plan-Source-Make-Deliver) with a focus on supply chain management, warehouse operations, and logistics. Technically competent on Supply Chain, related technology systems.

• Have a deep understanding and demonstrated experience in:
o Microsoft technologies

• Strong understanding of standard enterprise infrastructure technologies; compute (server and workstation endpoints), storage, networking, virtualization, identity management, and security

• Demonstrated 5+ years of Enterprise or Technology Architecture experience in Retail or other related industry.

• Good understanding of information management practices, system development life cycle management, IT services management, agile methodologies, infrastructure and operations

This role requires regular in-office presence, including to engage in in-person team interaction, meetings and collaboration, client support, mentoring, coaching, and/or feedback. However, this role can perform duties effectively using a combination of in-office and remote work.
