Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Compliance Officer on the Consumer Data and Engagement Platforms (CDEP) Compliance Team under Consumer and Small Business Banking. Learn more about the career areas and lines of business at wellsfargojobs.com.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide oversight and monitoring of business group risk based compliance programs

  • Maintain compliance risk expertise and consulting for projects and initiatives with moderate to high risk, over multiple business lines

  • Establish, implement and maintain risk standards and programs to drive compliance with federal, state, agency, legal and regulatory and Corporate Policy requirements

  • Oversee the Front Line's execution and challenges appropriately on compliance related decisions

  • Develop, oversee, and provide independent credible challenge to standards with subject matter expertise

  • Provide direction to the business on developing corrective action plans and effectively managing regulatory change

  • Report findings and make recommendations to management and appropriate committees

  • Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvement and risk control development

  • Receive direction from leaders and exercise independent judgment while developing the knowledge to understand function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements

  • Monitor the reporting, escalation, and timely remediation of issues, deficiencies or regulatory matters regarding compliance risk management

  • Oversee the Front Line's execution and challenges appropriately on compliance related decisions

  • Make decisions and resolve issues to meet business objectives

  • Interpret policies, procedures, and compliance requirements

  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals

  • Work with complex business units, rules and regulations on moderate to high risk compliance matters

  • Interface with Audit, Legal, external agencies, and regulatory bodies on risk related topics

Required Qualifications, US:

  • 5+ years of Compliance experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

  • Understanding of Consumer and Small Business Banking (CSBB) businesses

  • Ability to effectively work in a complex financial institution and virtual team environment, across levels and business lines, where flexibility and collaboration are important

  • Ability to adapt to the requirements and expectations of a Line of Business Compliance team, managing multiple deliverables and deadlines while driving results in a fast-paced work environment where priorities or focus may need to shift frequently

  • Ability to say 'no' to a request tactfully while offering alternative options to get to 'yes,' if appropriate

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in a related discipline strongly preferred

  • CRCM designation 

Job Expectations:

  • Knowledge of consumer financial law and regulations impacting the CSBB organization such as UDAAP, Fair Lending and FCRA as well as Privacy requirements

  • Knowledge and understanding of marketing activities in the financial services industry as well as understanding of banking and related regulatory compliance requirements

  • Ability to review and credibly challenge compliance risks, ask questions and provide subject matter expertise and guidance as a trusted advisor

  • Review new processes and significant changes to existing processes and provide credible challenge as appropriate to ensure activities are all executed and managed appropriately, having clear visibility into program components and compliance risks

  • Be willing to work on site.
