Work Schedule : Monday through Thursday, 9 AM-1 PM, August through Mid-December GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: Foundations in Health Care is a course designed as a bridge class for PACE students to enter either C.N.A or Medical Office Professional. This class offers basic skill training in the following areas: Soft Skills Keyboarding Basic Math CORE OSHA/HIPAA Resume writing and Cover Letter Basic Medical Terminology UNIVERSAL CORE COMPETENCIES: Advocate for Continual Improvement- empowering each other to identify opportunities for excellence. Collaborate with Mutual Accountability- working together with a willingness to take ownership and accountability for our actions. Champion Service- anticipating needs and create a welcoming, diverse, and inclusive environment. Perseverance- commitment to excellence even in the face of adversity or delay in achieving success. Lead- regardless of title, through positive influence. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Effectively teach assigned courses. Serve as a professional role model. Assist students in achieving course objectives. Evaluate and report student performance. Prepare student learning activities. Participate in program activities and meetings as appropriate. Perform other related work duties as assigned. The individual teaching this class will be available Monday - Thursday for a 7-week period in the Spring and Fall semesters PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS: Demonstrates professional role modeling for students, professional appearance and positive attitude. Maintains familiarity with policies and protocols of the program, college and clinical agencies. Assumes responsibility, is prompt and dependable in attendance, and effectively applies problem-solving skills. Assists students in identifying strengths/areas for improvement. Acts as a facilitator of learning' discusses, questions, and directs student learning. Maintains confidentiality with patients, students, agency, and college. Represents the college/program in a positive manner. Meets all employment requirements. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION: Position involves sitting, standing and/or walking most of the time in a classroom/laboratory setting. Constant (67-100%) reaching, standing, walking, lifting, dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, and viewing various types of close visual work. Frequent (34-66%) stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, carrying, and perceiving attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching. Exerting up to 50 pounds occasionally (10-33%). Will travel to other on-campus facilities, off-campus facilities and agencies to teach, attend meetings, etc. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a degree in a health field. Excellent communicator. Must be able to demonstrate all technical skills required of students. May potentially be subject to bio-hazardous chemicals; moveable mechanical parts; and fumes, odors, dusts, and mists. A person in this position must satisfactorily complete Kirkwood's Bloodborne Pathogens training. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Teaching experience helpful.
