A postdoctoral position is immediately available in the Department of Pathology, University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. Our laboratory utilizes a genetically modified mouse models and human induced pluripotent stem cells to model human diseases, focusing on understanding of mitochondrial / metabolic signaling and function in various diseases and in aging, in order to develop interventions to delay aging or to treat human diseases. Currently we are working on cardiomyopathy / heart failure, cardiac arrhythmia, cardiac and kidney aging, myeloma-associated kidney diseases, polycystic kidney diseases and mitochondrial encephalo-cardiomyopathy. Our projects use genetically modified mouse models and cardiomyocytes / neuronal cells /organoid derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells. Applicants should have a strong background in molecular and cellular biology and experience with genetic mouse models. The selected candidate will be expected to work independently while interacting in a collaborative environment.
