Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking Experienced Interiors Engineers to join our Interiors Responsibility Center South Carolina (IRCSC) team based in North Charleston, SC.

As a team member you will have the opportunity to manage systems associated with interior of the airplane, along with the cargo compartments, exterior markings, and cabin safety. The selected candidate will have a statement of work that spans the product lifecycle: supporting customer configuration development, supplier engagement, validating and verifying design requirements, integrating business needs, and supporting the product through the production and certification processes.

Using your ability to combine the expertise and resources of the interiors organization to certify and deliver the best products within the industry is the main goal for this role.

Working under minimal supervision, position responsibilities include the following:

  • Develop, integrate and document structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design.
  • Guide product design and verifies structural integrity by using analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance.
  • Develop test plans and configurations, supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications
  • Lead performance, integration and analysis of tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  • Develop analytical processes/tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort.
  • Investigates of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs and innovations to meet projected requirements.
  • Communicating professionally across multiple organizations and/or throughout all levels of leadership.

The selected candidate will be required to perform work onsite in North Charleston, SC.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

  • Bachelors of Science (or greater) from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry, or other technical degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in aerospace engineering, design criteria and engineering release processes.
  • 5+ years of experience with 3-D modeling (Autodesk Inventor, CATIA, SOLIDWORKS, SketchUp, Pro-E, 3DX, etc.).
  • Experience working within a cross-functional team.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

  • Demonstrates good problem-solving skills and critical thinking.
  • Structural analysis experience.
  • Experience with FEM analysis methods and software.
  • Working knowledge of standard business software (MS Office Suite).
  • Ability to use a variety of media to clearly convey information and ideas to a variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrated interest in continuous personal learning and development.
  • Ability to meet plan delivery deadlines when assigned.
  • Strong understanding and demonstrated experience with FAA Title 14 Part 25 and/or EASA equivalent.

Typical Education/Experience

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience).

In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Salary:
$89,500 - $117,350

Relocation:
This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
