HJF is seeking a motivated candidate to support the Military HIV Research Program (MHRP) located at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research in Silver Spring, MD. HJF provides scientific, technical, and programmatic support services to MHRP.

We are looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate candidate with a molecular biology background to investigate host restriction factors in infectious diseases, including HIV-1, dengue and zika, in the context of natural infection, treatment, and vaccine studies. The successful candidate will have experience designing and carrying out molecular and cellular biology assays to test given hypotheses, as well as experience performing next-generation sequencing. The candidate must be able to multi-task and prioritize project timelines when necessary. Strong communication and inter-personal skills are required. This position provides an opportunity to work independently to conduct research projects using single cell multiomics technologies to address questions critical to military and world health. PhD holders are preferred.

The Laboratory of Integrative Multiomics, led by Dr. Rasmi Thomas, uses cutting-edge next-generation sequencing technologies to identify variation in genes involved in host-pathogen interactions. We are at the forefront of developing these technologies for analysis of transcriptomes of single cells and detection of transcripts from intracellular pathogens. The group integrates transcriptomics with other 'omics' datasets, such as proteomics and epigenomics, to gain insight into the mechanisms underlying disease acquisition, pathogenesis and response to vaccination.
