Overview

An intern position in the Electrical Design Group at General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems offers the opportunity to be continually challenged and immersed in an electrical design and test environment. We are focused on supporting the warfighter through the development and manufacture of advanced rotary cannons, high speed ammunition handling systems, control electronics, gun turrets, and test equipment. Our products can be found within every U.S. military branch and within allies around the world.

The Electrical Design Group focuses on providing control solutions for managing the operation of rotary cannons and test solutions for verifying that the rotary cannons meet the warfighters needs. We are looking for an electrical intern/co-op who is interested in exploring the control/test of complex machines.

Responsibilities

This position will require you to:
  • Play an important role in helping develop and implement electrical control systems for aircraft weapon systems in a small development team environment.
  • Participate in the testing process through test execution, troubleshooting, and data analysis.
  • Communicate and work with electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, software engineers, control engineers, system engineers, and project engineers.
Your work will be performed with supervision by a lead engineer to aid as required. Dependent on your capabilities, this role can be as challenging as you want it to be.

Qualifications

Experience:
  • No experience is required for this position.
Required Education:
  • Attending school for a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering and planning to Graduate in 2024 or 2025.
Applicant:
  • US Citizens Only.
Desired Experience:
  • Broad knowledge of electrical equipment.
  • Proficient with utilizing an oscilloscope and electrical meters.
  • Interest in supporting the warfighter.

  • Maintains an above average GPA, especially in core engineering courses.
  • Communicates well with others and is a team player.
  • Has an exceptional work ethic and is ambitious.
  • Interest in controls and operating complex mechanism.
