Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector has an opening for a Principal Air Vehicle Digital Transformation Engineer or Sr. Principal Air Vehicle Digital Transformation Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Vehicle Engineering department. This position is located in Melbourne, Florida and may require on-site support at product manufacturing and integration sites.
Job Summary:
The Digital Transformation Engineer leverages prior engineering design/analysis experience, Model-based Analysis (MBA), Model-based Design (MBD) and Model-based Manufacturing (MBM) to implement Digital Transformation/Model Based Engineering (DT/MBE) principles within the Air Vehicle team to drive the transformation culture of how we integrate digital technologies to enable efficient information sharing to conceptualize, design, build and sustain solutions with speed and agility on Advanced Programs.
In this role, you will work with the DT/MBE Manager and the Air Vehicle team to better utilize digital toolkits, develop agile strategies and model based applications. He/she also coordinates with Engineering Tools development team and the Systems Engineering team to develop the overall strategy and implementation of the digital transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interface with program leadership across Advanced Programs initiatives
- Drive culture change to establish the capabilities of a digital enterprise in support of vehicle design from concept development to vehicle build and certification
- Support sector digital transformation initiatives
- Work with IPT leads and tool development managers to evolve a level of tool training and process knowledge
- Mentor and lead less experienced staff in developing and implementing vehicle digital engineering solutions in an Agile environment
- Principal Air Vehicle Digital Transformation Engineer requires a minimum of Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 5 years of related experience to include a background in design, analysis and/or engineering tools development discipline OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related experience to include a background in design, analysis and/or engineering tools development
- Sr. Principal Air Vehicle Digital Transformation Engineer requires a minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 9 years of related experience to include a background in design, analysis and/or engineering tools development discipline OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 7 years of related experience to include a background in design, analysis and/or engineering tools development
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance
- Active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
- Experience working in an aerospace design environment with an emphasis placed in the following disciplines: Structural Design/Analysis, Subsystems Design/Analysis, Electrical/Mechanical Routing, or Mechanism Design/Analysis
- Proficient in TeamCenter/NX and/or NX Nastran/FEMAP and classic hand calculation stress analysis with recent experience in a SAP environment
- Understanding of the Build to Package development and release processes
- Knowledge of Model-based engineering methods, specifications and processes as they relate to engineering model based definition
- Communicates effectively and clearly presents technical approaches and recommendations
Salary Range: $82,000 USD - $123,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $101,600 USD - $152,400 USD
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
