Eaton is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer - Automation for its Assembly Operation located in Roanoke, Virginia.

Position Overview:

As a Manufacturing Engineer you will work with a wide range of people in varying roles across the organization, including hourly associates, other support personnel within the facility, personnel at other facilities and outside suppliers to meet Assembly Operation goals.  This position will be attractive for a self-starter who enjoys navigating through the challenges and rewards of a fast-paced industrial operation.

In this function you will:

  • Communicate with and support the new product project teams and the assembly department to achieve a cost effective and reliable product and determine the manufacturability of new and existing products
  • Make engineering judgments regarding product problems and be able to recommend solutions suitable for the preferred assembly method or process.
  • Identify tooling equipment and services required for manufacturing
  • Support the laser etching machine, software, and process
  • Manage all new product launches and relaunches for the facility through PROLaunch project management processes and lead the assembly of or building of prototype products
  • Engage with, support, and teach Assemblers on correct methods and procedures necessary for production
  • Act as a champion a continuous improvement culture and lead supporting activities
  • Create manufacturing work instructions and put them into action, and maintain controlled documents
  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of tester parameters and camera files
  • Plan, develop and analyze experimental test programs to meet functional and performance specifications
  • Manage the obsolescence processes

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • 3 years of relevant experience
  • Robotics and PLC experience
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position.  Only candidates that currently reside within a 50-mile radius of the Roanoke, VA facility will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or technical discipline
  • SAP experience
  • Lean / six sigma experience
  • Machining and Fixturing experience
  • Machine guarding experience, including interlocks.
