GENERAL PURPOSE:The Senior Analyst will provide critical financial and strategic analysis support to the Stores teams at Ross and dd's Discounts. The Senior Analyst will report to the Senior Manager, Strategic Projects but will frequently interact with Directors and VPs of other Stores functions (e.g., Field Management, Operations and Loss Prevention). The Senior Analyst will provide primary analytical, and project management, support to the Senior Manager for projects critical to the success and growth of the Stores organization including task management, flexible scheduling, workforce management, strategic payroll initiatives, and other operational initiatives. The Senior Analyst will complete (with limited supervision) complex analyses to answer a wide range of store operations related questions. The Senior Analyst will be responsible for completing other complex, ad hoc analyses as needed and will summarize the results of those analyses into clear written communications for executive review.
The base salary range for this role is $73,500 - $110,400. The base salary range is dependent on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards vary by position and location.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Perform practical, action oriented, & comprehensive data analysis in support of business and process improvement initiatives
• Design and conduct financial and operational analysis of Tests, Pilots, and Rollouts to understand drivers of performance, diagnose causes of weak performance and identify profit improvement opportunities - examples include optimizing the staffing of our jewelry counters, analyzing the productivity improvements we have seen from reduced turnover in our stores, etc.
• Design and complete other ad hoc analyses as requested by the Senior Manager and/or Senior Leadership
• Develop compelling materials to communicate results of analysis, key insights, and recommendations to mid- and "C" level executives within the company
Participate on, and lead, small project teams to drive changes in business processes and store systems that will improve scheduling, reporting, and store operations
• Support the Senior Manager in the continued development of enhanced store operations capabilities (e.g., scheduling, point-of-sale, store communications, reporting, etc.) for Ross Dress for Less and dd's Discounts stores including:
o Analyzing the performance of critical store systems (e.g., our workforce management system, which forecasts sales and store workload, and generates the weekly schedule for store-level employees)
o Overseeing documentation of system configurations and processes, as well as identifying gaps in the processes
o Supporting the identification and definition of requirements for key initiatives (e.g., new software used by stores at the point of sale, new systems used to help stores manage lines at check-out), and facilitating the review and approval of these documents
o Serving as program manager for tracking overall work progress for critical subsets of the store operations' projects
• For new reports, or for enhancements to existing systems, manage and execute all testing (e.g., User Acceptance Testing) to ensure that these new reports or enhancements achieve the desired business goal
o Support the Store Operations team as needed to facilitate the rollout and change management processes for new and/or enhanced initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Bachelor's degree required (preferably in an analytical field)
• 4 years of post-college experience, preferably with a top-tier consulting firm (operations or strategy) or retailer
• Outstanding analytical ability - must have a data-driven approach to solving problems
• Requires very strong quantitative skills, a good sense of how to dissect problems and a strong ability to "connect the dots" - e.g., understand how pieces of data interact with each other or how one finding should inform the result of another analysis
• A clear understanding of basic financial, statistical and economic concepts
• Excellent communication skills - must be able to clearly communicate results and implications of analysis in both verbal and written (PowerPoint) forms
• A detail-oriented approach: Must pay very close attention to details and have the drive to get things right
• Strong fundamental business technical skills - must have strong Excel and PowerPoint skills and have an ability to quickly learn new business process software applications
• Teamwork - needs to be able to build effective working relationships within and outside the Store Operations team
• Must be trustworthy with confidential information
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
This position requires the ability to work in an office environment, including using a computer, attending meetings, working as part of a team, and the ability to communicate with team members and others. Regular attendance also is a requirement of the position.
Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
This role requires regular in-office presence, including to engage in in-person team interaction, meetings and collaboration, client support, mentoring, coaching, and/or feedback. However, this role can perform duties effectively using a combination of in-office and remote work.
