**_This position will work at the_** **_John Deere Sprayer Lab Facility in Ames, Iowa,_** **_during the academic year and onsite at the John Deere Des Moines Works factory in Ankeny, Iowa, during the summer._**
_The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule_ **_YEAR-ROUND._**
**Your Responsibilities**
As a Part-Time Student-Product Engineering for John Deere Crop Care located in Ames, Iowa, and at the John Deere Des Moines Works in Ankeny, Iowa, you will:
+ Produce and/or evaluate possible design solutions to improve cost, quality, and performance for Crop Care equipment
+ Create design concepts using Creo (Pro/E) CAD software tools
+ Develop embedded code in C, C++ and/or MATLAB/Simulink languages and verify it through testing on machines
+ Test and develop concepts in lab and field environments through effective team collaboration as well as hands on work with test and prototype equipment
+ Effectively communicate and work in a team environment with both direct team members and those in supporting organizations
+ Support manufacturing, quality, reliability, and supply management with engineering
+ Develop dynamic performance specifications using simulation. (MATLAB, Simscape, Simulink)
**What Skills You Need**
+ Ideally you will be pursuing a degree in Mechanical or Computer/Software Engineering; others may apply
+ Must be registered as a full-time student at Iowa State University
+ Graduation date of May 2023 or later
+ Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
+ Available to work 15-20 hours/week during the academic year
+ Available to work 40 hours/week during the summer
+ Must be able to commute to the work location in Ankeny, Iowa, during the summer break
+ Strong mechanical aptitude
+ Effective communication skills both oral and written
+ Programming experience (MATLAB, C++, Python, Visual Basic, Arduino, Raspberry Pi)
**What Makes You Stand Out**
+ Knowledge or work experience in production agriculture (specifically tillage, planters, and sprayers)
+ Experience in product engineering (product design, product testing, software testing)
+ 3D modeling experience (Creo preferred)
+ Data analytics experience (Python, R, SQL)
+ Strong familiarity with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, Tableau or Power BI
**NOTE: For Iowa State University students, this assignment will qualify for ISU course credit as a** **co-op/internship position working 20 hours per week.**
