About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Engineer that will report to the head of Research and Systems Engineering within Foundational Hosting Platform (FHP). The Principal Engineer will be responsible for establishing and overseeing assured delivery of all key technology roadmaps developed in partnership with enterprise architecture. Technology areas include distributed compute and storage, mainframe, mid-range, database, automation, cross configuration engineering and solutions, and compliance assurance. The Principal Engineer will be responsible for communicating and interlocking with the broader CIO and development community to assure alignment.
In this role, you will:
Spearhead research and evaluation of new technologies spanning infrastructure domains
Collaborate and provide solution engineering designs across FHP teams on their engineering work and assist team members to make informed decisions in alignment with individual and collective strategic plans
Work with various platform teams to drive adoption of tool-chain based automation with a view to infrastructure-as-code for all platforms
Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups
Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking
Provide vision, direction, and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions
Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership
Translate advanced technology experience, and in-depth knowledge of the organization's tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions
Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommend innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization
Required Qualifications:
7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
7+ years of technology release or implementation experience
7+ years of technology infrastructure management experience
Desired Qualifications:
5+ years of architecture, engineering, or a combination of both, with distributed storage and processing technologies
3+ years of experience utilizing Cloud Infrastructure within tools and applications such as AWS Cloud Formation Templates, Spinnaker and Terraform
Ability to manage multiple or large technology infrastructure functions with a focus on driving complex projects requiring participation of cross-functional groups
Experience communicating and presenting complex information to multiple levels of the organization
Knowledge and understanding of project management and implementation in an infrastructure build environment
Knowledge and understanding of virtual hosting environment

Pay Range:
Colorado - Broomfield Pay Range: $144,400 - $300,000 Annually
May be considered for a discretionary bonus, Restricted Share Rights, or other long-term incentive awards.
