Occ Summary
Provide physical therapy services to patients /clients who haveimpairments, functional limitations, disabilities, or c hanges inphysical function and health status resulting from injury, dise ase, orother causes; provide prevention and wellness services, including screenings and health promotion. The senior serves as a resource personf orthe team and the department: participates in orientation of newstaff t herapists, physicians and other health personnel. The seniorparticipates in teaching activities for physical therapy and otherhealth related stu dents. The physical therapist works within practiceguidelines as defined by North Carolina state law.

Duties a ndResponsibilities of this Level: See Departmental criteriafor each dut ylisted, and Departmental criteria for clinical ladder.Physical Therapis tDemonstrate & articulate sound clinical reasoning in synthesizingcomple x evaluation data identifying diagnosis and developing acomprehensive pl an of care.Develop and update appropriate plan of care in collaborationw ith thepatient/family and related to the person's age and lifestyle wit hmeasurable long and short term goals and a defined D/C planUnderstandth e role of physical therapy in the context of the patient'sage, total nee ds perspective and environmentPerform age appropriate competency skills in area of practice and withrespect to individual patient's problems.Fol low intervention protocols and alter plan of care appropriately.Discharg e patient when goals have been met or medical necessity is nolonger warr ants intervention.Establish provisions for continuing services/followup as needed.Meet competency skills for evaluations in area of practice.Con sistently meet patient care productivity standard as established forjob classification.Work cooperatively with supervisors and peers to contribu te to theoverall productivity of the team.Utilize support personnel (aid es, sr aides, assistants) as appropriateand available.Actively support and participate in patient coverage efforts across alldivisions withinthe department as necessary.Assess the learning needs and capabilitiesof pa tients and caregivers.Initiate patient and family education in a timely manner relative toage, LOS, readinessto learn, and emotional status.Uti lize appropriate methods and materials for effective learning,monitoring response to education, and adapting program appropriately.Ensure that p atient/family understands when and how to access furtherintervention.Pat ient care documentation is timely, legible, and efficient.Documentation is concise, pertinent and meets the professions anddepartments documenta tion standards.Oral reporting is clear, concise, relevant, and timely.Pe rform all required data collection for the department accurately andwith in expected time frame.Peer review standards are consistently met.Provid e clinical education experiences for students as requested bysupervisor and established by CCCETake 1-2 students for long term clinical rotation (Therapist of > 1yrexperience).Adjust supervisory techniques for indivi dual student's needs.Provide outreach and learning activities as request ed which may include:in-services on related topics, generating referrals , interacting withvolunteers or visitors.Participate in data collection for research activities to enhanceclinical outcomes.Perform other relate d duties incidental to the work described herein.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree or certification in physical therapy, with Master's or Clinical Doctorate in physical therapy preferred.
Experience
None beyond required education, although more experience may be preferred at times.
Degrees, Licensures, Certifications
Current Physical Therapist license in North Carolina
