The Boeing Company is seeking an Experienced Airplane Maintenance Engineer to lead and provide technical solutions within the Airplane Maintenance Engineering organization in Seal Beach, California.

Maintenance Engineers analyze complex engineering design changes to determine maintenance/repair requirements,

A Maintenance Engineer also develops and provides technical solutions to our customers by creating, evaluating, and documenting procedures and instructions, product designs and processes to ensure supportability and maintainability.

Engineers create story boards for theory descriptions to ensure accuracy and common understanding of maintenance/repair data and will be assigned to the Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM) and/or Fault Isolation Manual (FIM).

The selected candidate will be required to perform work onsite.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plan research projects to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
  • Perform troubleshooting techniques to determine root cause and provided corrective action plans for failure resolutions.
  • Plan, lead, and document maintenance data analysis including non-recurring and sustaining development, validation and delivery of technical Airplane Maintenance data, Fault Isolation and Integrated Planning to maintain the Instructions for Continued Airworthiness and FAA/Foreign Regulatory requirements.
  • Provide expertise to respond to customer inquiries, develop maintenance manuals, and investigate failures to maintain continued airworthiness/mission capability.  
  • Analyze complex engineering designs, supplier and engine manufacturer design data to determine and develop maintenance, repair and tooling supportability requirements and methods for configurated procedures and instructions.
  • Account for customer impact of solutions and provide temporary repair options when a permanent repair is not feasible.
  • Conducts engineering analysis to verify the accuracy of maintenance/repair data. Performs customer interface to support customer inquiries and develops technical solutions to customers; evaluates customers' maintenance operations.
  • Use knowledge of design concepts and techniques (e.g., concurrent engineering, Design for Manufacture/Assembly [DFM/A]).
  • Frequently communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design, production, and support of products, services, or other deliverables.
  • Leads organizational activities that influence the Aerospace Industry.
  • Work under minimal direction.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited course of study, in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • Seven (7) or more years of experience related to Aircraft Maintenance and Aircraft Operations for Level 4
  • Twelve (12) or more years of experience related to Aircraft Maintenance and Aircraft Operations for Level 5
  • Experience using 3-D CAD design software, such as CATIA, ENOVIA, IVT, 3DX, DCAC, and LWG (Light Weight Graphics).
  • Must have the capacity to apply industry standard analysis methods and techniques to continuously improve and optimize processes.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Experience with REDARS, CATIA, ENOIVA & PSDS Maintenance Engineering publishing value streams (eMOD, ZAPS, Digital Data Processing System - DDPS, Toolbox, and/or My Boeing Fleet).
  • Experience with analyzing and interpreting engineering data for inclusion into maintenance manuals and technical publications.
  • Experience in either Propulsion, Gear, and/or Payloads/Interiors.
  • Current or prior Airframe and Powerplant License issued by the Federal Aviation Administration.

Typical Education / Experience:

Bachelor's degree.

Expert: 9+ years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD +4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience).

Consultant: 14+ years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work

In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Salary:

$128,000 - $155,000

$150,000 - $189,200

Relocation:
Relocation/assignment benefits to the international location will be provided.
