The Principal Design Quality Assurance Specialist is crucial to our business in support of not only maintaining a best-in-class Engineering team, but also for pushing the boundaries of what is possible in Digital Engineering, keeping our business on the leading edge of technology.

The Principal Design Quality Assurance Specialist will provide technical leadership and be a hands-on member of our multi-functional mechanical engineering group that designs, builds, and tests hardware in support of high-speed mechanisms and precision aiming systems. The Principal Design Quality Assurance Specialist is primarily responsible for assuring the structure and overall quality of each design model and drawing released through Configuration Management. The Principal Design Quality Assurance Specialist will work under minimal supervision as part of a collaborative team environment and be expected to be self-motivated and provide proactive leadership. The Principal Design Quality Assurance Specialist will act as a mentor for Designers and Engineers in the application of the latest drafting, design and CAD standards and processes while working to develop best practices for modelling and drafting techniques within the design group. The Principal Design Quality Assurance Specialist will help lead the development of such standards and practices to meet or exceed industry standards for the above including Digital Engineering (DE), 3D Model Based Design (MBD), Product Data Management (PDM) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.


  • Provide critical feedback to model and drawing creation by the design team through a thorough check to existing standards and processes in support of Model Base Definition. Design checks are documented through a PLM workflow process. Must be proficient in supporting software tools such as CAD and PLM plus assist in DFM, DFA and DFC.
  • Collaborate with technical teams developing and trading off hardware design concepts with colleagues, engineers, and suppliers to define and document task at hand. Support detailed product design by supporting design reviews of models and drawings to the latest ASME Y14.5-2009 GD&T standards and model-based definition standards.

  • Provide reviews of specifications, reports, Change Requests and Change Notices.
  • Provide training, mentorship, and coaching to the entire Engineering group as it relates to the latest techniques, software, processes, etc.
  • Update and/or create supporting standards and processes.
  • Support or lead digital engineering and continuous improvement activities such as digital thread, digital twin, additive manufacturing, MBSE, etc.


  • Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 6+ years of relevant experience
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Proficient in Adobe Markup and Compare Tools
  • Expertise in use of CAD (Creo) and hardware design
  • ASME Y14.5-2009 GD&T standard ASME certified
  • DFM/DFA/DFC Proficiency
  • Failure analysis, root cause and corrective action
  • Technical Writing
  • Knowledgeable in Digital Engineering concepts
  • Knowledgeable in the latest industry standards for Model Based Definition
