About this role:

Risk Architecture, a unit under Market and Counterparty Risk Management (MCRM), is the first line of support for CoRS, the risk aggregation system for the enterprise.  This position for the Risk Architecture team will assist with the development of business stories for the integration of projects or other change items defined for CoRS, perform daily platform oversight, and constantly interaction with multiple lines of businesses and technology teams to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of the platform information. This position will be responsible for working with inquiries from multiple lines of businesses, multiple front-line desks and marketers and the credit administration group to answer daily questions and help architect systematic solutions for new prioritized projects that align with the risk management framework and vision for MCRM.  These solutions should be constructed using modern functionality to maintain the agility of the platform and meet the service level requirements and accuracy demands required for elevated risk management.  Daily tasks include the identification, measurement, aggregation, approval, pricing, exposure explanations and research and reporting of risk.

The successful candidate will be familiar with Loan and Fixed Income Trading products including, but not limited to: Loans, Syndicated Loans, Derivatives, Foreign Exchange, Securities Trading and Securities Financing. This individual will have some familiarity with various Wells Fargo lines of business SOR's (ie. AFS, Loan IQ, Calypso, GMI, Broadridge and other trading platforms) and possess the aptitude to understand complex business concepts while being integral to the design, development, and implementation of risk-based solutions.  Experience working with product risk models and risk calculation methodologies is desired. Conducting hands on training and writing training materials for new system functionality, process mapping new workflow processes, creating informational system release notes, and maintaining outbound file documentation and field level definitions will be part of the daily responsibilities.  This position will also require an individual who is prepared to work on multiple projects, technology releases, and daily tasks all at the same time.  Attention to detail, the ability to translate technical and business specifications into risk terminology and the ability to traverse between Risk, Credit, Technical and Front Office business units is essential.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead or participate in risk program development or maintenance and provide oversight of market, interest rate and counterparty risk activities within Market Risk
  • Contribute to evaluating and approving risk models related to risk management framework
  • Evaluate and approve moderately complex trading models, market risk, basis risk, delivery risk and counterparty aggregated credit risk exposure on a daily or long-range basis for specific financial products
  • Consult and implement initiatives with moderate to high risk and lead team to meet market risk deliverables
  • Leverage solid understanding of risk management challenges and provide input with focus on risk disclosures, remediation, due diligence, suitability, and reputation risk
  • Collaborate and consult with management and board of directors to provide periodic or scheduled risk reports that present a companywide view of risk management

Required Qualifications, US:

  • 4+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: trading, desk analyst, Capital Markets, market risk, interest rate risk or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of capital markets and counterparty risk including counterparty product knowledge
  • Experience working within a group that uses and counterparty product platform or a team that supports an application
  • Experience with of SQL, Visio, Excel and other similar software packages
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail
  • Effective written and verbal skills
  • Ability to execute in a fast paced, high demand environment while balancing multiple priorities
  • Experience writing business stories to support an Agile technology platform
  • Ability to partner with a wide range of colleagues including risk professionals, marketers, traders, technology developers and analysts and business unit line risk officers and support staff
  • Experience working with a risk methodology framework and policies and writing system requirements that conform to the boundaries set by these protocols
