Organization Overview:

At Lilly, we serve an extraordinary purpose. We make a difference for people around the globe by discovering, developing and delivering medicines that help them live longer, healthier, more active lives. Not only do we deliver breakthrough medications, but you also can count on us to develop creative solutions to support communities through philanthropy and volunteerism.

Position Description:

Technology continues to transform every aspect of society, including healthcare. Lilly sees digital as an extension of our medicines, not just a marketing tactic. We, as consumers, have come to expect digital experiences to augment and support our experiences with medicines - especially to help reduce the burden of coping and managing through chronic disease for us, our loved ones and health care providers. Hence, Lilly's Digital Health team is committed to exploring how the next generation therapeutic ecosystems, connected solutions, and data analytics can transform the customer (patients, health care providers and payers) experience, demonstrate value, and most significantly - improve patient outcomes.

We will work together to provide the best quality digital health solutions for our patients and their associated health care providers.

You will be responsible for leading development teams and technical solutions supporting one or more Digital Health Solutions. This begins with the infrastructure team and project team defining technical requirements and aligning the technical solutions with Lilly supported technologies and architectural patterns. Where necessary you will influence the direction of supported technologies, identify new technical opportunities and gain alignment on deviations when appropriate.

  • You will perform code reviews, debug applications, work with APIs and propose solutions to technical issues.
  • You will help maintain code quality, organization, and automation.
  • You will provide technical evaluation of proposed project ideas, software changes and future product releases. Significant changes will require collaboration and alignment with other teams and potentially external parties.
  • You will provide guidance to Lilly and non-Lilly software delivery teams in best practice Agile delivery and integration of software components into Lilly's Digital Health platform.
  • You will provide technical delivery of Digital Health software components including understanding and addressing risk, privacy, cybersecurity and legal constraints on project delivery. This will include completion of required technical assessments, engaging cross functional team members to proactively identifying potential risks, define and implement mitigations, and communicate broader reaching discoveries to other Digital Health teams.
  • You will develop knowledge of Digital Health business processes and technologies to ensure solution deliveries are consistent with the strategy and roadmap. You will then apply your expertise to influence broader Digital Health strategies to identify synergies between projects and improve the quality of assets.
  • You will build effective relationships with key technical resources and architects to influence technology solutions specifically related to Digital Health systems.
  • You will obtain and proactively use knowledge of medical device delivery models and quality system to ensure solutions align with regulatory expectations and meet regulatory timelines. You will use this knowledge to identify opportunities to gain efficiencies and accelerate delivery of Digital Health objectives.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar discipline.
  • 2 years of hands-on technical/development experience with modern web technologies or iOS and/or Android mobile applications.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Proven technical leadership experience in delivery of IT projects
  • Professional experience delivering software solutions that span the development life cycle; i.e., project initiation, design, development, testing, deployment, support, and retirement.
  • Understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and how to effectively deliver software within the processes and expectations of those systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to "live in the gray space" -- when process and direction does not dictate an ideal course of action - and make reasonable, risk-based decisions that keep projects on track.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team building skills.
  • Experience with Agile software development (preferably with onshore/offshore model)
  • Experience in a regulated software development environment
  • Demonstrated ability to influence peers
