Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Department Superintendent in our Albany, Georgia lumber mill. The Department Superintendent will oversee the Dry End Department. They will be responsible for leading a state-of-the-art wood products operations team in a safe manufacturing environment consistent with MBM® management philosophy and framework.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Ensure specific department operates safely, effectively and efficiently
  • Fully utilize Maintenance Process Optimization (MPO) process to track work completion and promote preventive & predictive maintenance
  • Facilitate team development and growth through a robust MBM® processes of RRE and performance management, including compensation management
  • Build employee commitment, ownership, and accountability by capturing their hearts and minds in the vision of a better state
  • Responsible for the department’s Talent position by identifying contributions and missed opportunities by team members
  • Drive safety excellence through promoting employee involvement, ownership and accountability to proactively identify hazards and implement the appropriate mitigating strategies based on the risk involved
  • Monitor the quality of work and provide direction to team members to maximize efficiency
  • Assist with troubleshooting and solving production issues
  • Provide safety training to team members

The Experience You Will Bring

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory or management experience in Dry End Lumber manufacturing or Dry End Maintenance environment
  • Experience in leading a department or organization in EH&S, Reliability, Production, Cost and Quality Excellence
  • Experience in analyzing production data to eliminate waste and foster continuous improvement
  • Must have working knowledge and experience with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and ability to learn various PC-based production and operations applications
  • Must be able and willing to work a flexible work schedule 
  • Must be able and willing to work in an industrial manufacturing plant including extended periods of time in noisy, hot or cold areas
  • Must be able and willing to work safely, and promote safe work practice

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher
  • Supervisory experience in dry end operations
  • Experience working with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) - SAP, MP2, ActivePlant
