Job Summary

Bread Financial Holdings is a tech-forward financial services company that provides simple, personalized payment, lending and saving solutions. We have an opening for a Senior Financial Reporting Analyst who will help our company prepare, review and ultimately file various financial reports with the SEC and our governing regulatory agencies. Just as important, this individual will also help us transform our reporting process through process improvement such as automation and reporting platform transformation, as well as enhancing our outreach and engagement model with our various internal partners including our General Counsel’s Office, Investor Relations, and Treasury.

Job Description

Essential Job Functions:

  • Prepare and review documents required by the SEC and regulatory agencies for external financial reporting, including 8-Ks, 10-Qs, 10-Ks, annual reports, proxy statements and call reports.
  • Use a formal process for data gathering, consolidation and analysis of financial data relative to the preparation of those required filings.
  • Review, analyze and validate quarterly earnings press releases, earnings slides and conference call scripts.
  • Complete tie-out procedures to confirm accuracy, completeness and continuity between our various SEC and regulatory filings, and our earnings materials.
  • Research and prepare reference material and memorandums concerning new and existing accounting and reporting literature to ensure compliance.
  • Execute and compile documentation supporting internal control over financial reporting for SEC and regulatory reporting.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with our auditors, engaging with our team to help provide timely and responsive action to their queries. 
  • Maintain an external prospective of best practices across the financial services industry (and more broadly as relevant) for enhancement opportunities.
  • Provide assistance with additional ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting.
  • Review procedures and provide recommendations for improvements and efficiencies, including engaging with and advancing automation throughout the financial reporting process and influencing the digital mindset of the Company.

Reports to: Manager, Financial Reporting

Working Conditions/ Physical Requirements:  Remote, some limited travel may be required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Capable of thinking analytically and creatively. Strong initiative, confidence and drive to achieve results without explicit direction or detailed instruction
  • Possesses ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks and projects
  • Five or more years of experience
  • Type / focus of work experience required: Financial reporting
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with ability to communicate effectively within all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to interact, influence and build relationships at all levels of seniority and across all functions within the organization

Preferred Experience:

  • CPA highly preferred
  • Type / focus of work experience preferred: Public accounting experience
