What You Will Do


Utilities and Infrastructure (UI) has a great opportunity for an Operations Specialist. The selected candidate will support the Operations Open Space Manager in the areas of Roads & Grounds, facility supervisor program and will serve as a back-up as needed. Candidate and will gain knowledge and understanding in support of the snow removal program. Candidate may be requested to participate in after hour snow removal efforts. Will participate and serve on rotation as a duty office for the UI Duty Officer program.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting various mechanical, electrical and civil documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Understanding of work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures.
  • Working experience inspecting, supervising and/or coordinating craftwork on construction and maintenance projects.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the preparation and presentation of operations reports.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications.

Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, post graduate course work may be desirable.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Advanced experience in conducting research, developing alternative solutions, and developing solutions on problems affecting operations and administration in creative ways for complex problems.
  • Knowledge of or acting as Duty Officer Program.
  • Expert experience with computerized maintenance management systems or work control systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Laboratory's operations policies, practices, and procedures, can apply them to resolve issues. Advanced knowledge of legal requirements and environmental impacts affecting facility operations and administration.

Location: This position will be located in Los Alamos, NM.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: Q(Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance which requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon position, additional authorization to access nuclear weapons information may be required that may or may not be available to dual citizens depending upon the circumstances.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
