The Opportunity:

The Field Service Technician – Robotics provides technical expertise to customers in the installation, start-up and maintenance of WestRock’s packaging machinery, with a strong emphasis on robotic cells.  This position is with our Automated Packaging System (APS) Team based in Orlando, FL where you will assist to support our deployment of world class robotic cells and related equipment.

How you will impact WestRock:

  • Provides installation supervision, troubleshooting, start-up, and training for WestRock robot cells and other equipment in the field to help facilitate a smooth customer installation and start-up.
  • Ability to jog robot, touch-up pre-taught robot locations, and debug robot program.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, and electrical related problems in a safe, effective, and efficient manner.
  • Perform field updates to Allen-Bradley PLC and robot software code as required to support installation and create final software backup files.
  • Train operator and maintenance personnel on the safe use and proper maintenance of the WestRock equipment.
  • Assist in leading final customer site acceptance testing (SAT) to obtain customer sign-off.
  • Conduct exit interviews with customer prior to leaving facility.
  • Ability to perform robot and other WestRock equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to accurately define and explain repairs made, and proper maintenance procedures to plant and internal personnel.
  • Ability and willingness to work varying hours as required to meet customers production schedule.
  • Assist WestRock in-house production team with final equipment assembly and testing, as required, to prepare for a successful field installation.
  • Ensures service reports are properly completed and signed by the customer prior to being turned in.
  • Assists in ensuring that purchase orders for all sold services and parts are obtained

What you need to succeed:

  • A minimum of 3-years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Certifications, technical degrees, military training, or field service work are preferred but not required.
  • Basic operation and programming of Allen-Bradley PLC/HMIs and robot control platforms.
  • FANUC and/or KUKA robot experience preferred.
  • Strong mechanical abilities.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite- MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of Robot Industry Association (RIA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) procedures. 
  • Self-motivated individual with good personality for customer relations.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Up to 75% travel with nonstandard workweek hours including weekends, holidays, and night shifts - Passport is required
