Under the guidance of a supervisor, conducts research on mathematical modeling of solid-state batteries. The project involves understanding and describing the interplay between the electrochemical and mechanical processes at metal/solid and cathode/solid interfaces. Successful candidate will develop meso/macro scale modeling to describe morphology changes, dendrite growth, side reactions, delamination processes etc.in hard and soft materials. The successful candidate will collaborate extensively with experimental and theoretical groups within Argonne National Lab, and other Labs and Universities in the US and across the world.
These include groups that focus on electrochemical characterization, synchrotron analysis, lower length scale (DFT, AIMD) modeling etc.
The successful candidate will be expected to analyze data, prepare manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed publications, present papers at scientific meetings, and prepare reports, presentations, and papers for group meetings or meeting sponsor reporting requirements.
Position Requirements
Successful candidate will have:
- Recently completed Ph. D Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or Electrochemistry with 0 to 3 years of experience or equivalent
- Deep understanding of electrochemistry, electrochemical engineering, and mechanical engineering
- Considerable experience in proposing, planning, designing and implementing experiments
