Research Assistant
The College of Veterinary Medicine seeks candidates for a Research Assistant positionresponsible for the management of laboratory resources to support ongoing and collaborative research programs as directed by the principal investigator, including: procurement of animals and materials for approved research protocols, training of students and research interns in basic molecular biology techniques, data analysis and preparation of manuscripts for submission to scientific journals, and the exploration of scientific databases for material in support of grant applications to funding agencies.

Essential Functions
Assists researchers in planning, maintaining or completing research programs and/or projects involved in the discovery of new knowledge, techniques, and concepts which require fundamental scientific/research knowledge, skills and abilities following relevant policies, procedures, regulations and laws. Collects data/samples related to others' research and in routine cases. Records, compiles, processes and analyzes data/samples. Documents results and observations in writing as well as presenting results to others. May assist in the preparation of research results for publication or presentation at conferences to include assisting in literature reviews and assisting in the writing of results and discussions. Assists with logistical considerations to include equipment, materials, and labor needs.

Welcome to Auburn University!
Auburn University was established in 1856 as the East Alabama Male College, 20 years after the city of Auburn's founding. In 1872, under the Morrill Act, the school became the first land-grant college in the South and was renamed the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama. In 1899 the name again was changed, to the Alabama Polytechnic Institute. Finally, in 1960 the name of the school was changed to Auburn University, a title more in keeping with its location, and expressing the varied academic programs and larger curriculum of a major university.
Today, Auburn is one of the few universities to carry the torch as a land, sea and space grant university. Our fall 2014 semester enrollment was 25,912. Our students can choose from more than 140 degree options in 13 schools and colleges at the undergraduate, graduate and professional levels.
