Job Overview

The Indirect Purchasing Specialist is responsible for overseeing indirect purchasing initiatives and projects for the Sales and Service and Business Unit, while optimizing value and delivering savings. The position partners with key cross-functional teams, and will influence key stakeholders to make cost efficient decisions that result in good business. The positon supports the development and execution of Indirect Category sourcing strategies, including handling negotiations, supplier relationships and performance management and risk management.   Identifies sourcing best practices and ensures those best practices are adopted, this includes educating end-users on Procurement policies, technologies and procedures.

 

Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties

  • Manage the US Fleet Program and vendor relationship with external fleet vendor and associated vehicle manufactures (OEM’s).
  • Negotiate fleet contract and related OEM contracts and discounts; decide on fleet options that meet Getinge’s sustainability goal and safety requirements.
  • Identify internal and external  tasks/responsibilities and processes related to the fleet program, train internal employees against those processes
  • Responsible for decision on escalations for repairs and policy exceptions.
  • Responsible for recommendations and gaining approval on fleet program enhancements and policy changes.
  • Develop and communicate innovative sourcing strategies for the Indirect Categories and ensure alignment with the businesses. Collaborate through either internal purchasing teams to the Suppliers, or directly to the Suppliers to deliver an efficient service.
  • Lead sourcing projects for the SSU while delivering value in verifiable cost reduction, cost avoidance, and improved contract terms and other values.
  • Review major contracts for key areas of spend and act as an expert resource for planning and leading negotiations, directly or through the team.
  • Manages indirect purchasing activities for the Sales and Service and Business Units while driving cost improvements and creating sustainable competitive advantage for Getinge.
  • Implement sourcing Getinge’s activities for the Indirect Categories and ensure alignment with the businesses. Collaborate through either internal purchasing teams to the Suppliers, or directly to the Suppliers to deliver an efficient service.
  • Responsible for communicating Purchasing activities with responsible functional leaders.
  • Drive and enable early engagement in sourcing activities to deliver business benefits.
  • Partner and support functional leaders in sourcing projects, across all categories of Indirect spend, report back on verifiable cost reductions, cost avoidance, demand management, improved contract terms and other values.
  • Partner with the Sr. Director of Finance to develop a robust governance structure to manage strategic preferred suppliers to drive continuous improvements and deliver savings.
  • Review major contracts for key areas of spend and act as an expert resource for planning and leading negotiations, directly or through the team.
  • Maintain the supplier master data including supplier-rating. 
  • Compile, prepare, present and endorse information relating to sourcing and supplier issues, and make this information available to other departments within the organization as appropriate.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Purchasing and/or Operations is required, preferable experience in managing indirect spend.
  • Proven experience supervising others in the purchasing/administrative field.
  • Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) Certification a plus.
  • Must have proven track record of meeting the project objectives by successfully managing, tracking and implementing successful strategies in regards to scope, quality, time and cost.
  • Proven purchasing experience of category management within a diverse range of indirect services and be able to manage a variety amount of projects for the business
  • Experience negotiating large-scale contracts; and dealing with complex demands and strategic supplier relationships.
  • Strong skills in spend and performance analysis.
  • Effective communication, multitasking skills and highly organized with a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills, including Microsoft Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint),  MS Outlook  and ePurchasing tools (e.g., SAP or similar ERP Solution) are also required.
