Michael Baker is growing and we are searching for a construction services Department Manager to join our the Lansing, MI office

The successful candidate will work at on-site client locations throughout the state of Michigan. They will be responsible for monitoring contractor activities, coordinating inspectors' activities, and maintaining project quality standards.

•Manage multiple civil and transportation construction projects in Michigan including serving as Project Construction Leader for MDOT projects

•Provide technical support and oversight to assigned project staff

•Maintain and manage client relations for assigned projects

•Perform business development activities for Michigan construction services and be recognized for major project delivery of similar assignments

•Prepare proposals for Construction Management services

•May assist with design projects between field assignment


•Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction, or related field

•15+ years of experience, with a minimum of 5 years as a Project Construction Leader on medium to large scale civil and transportation infrastructure projects

•Michigan PE License

•Working experience with MDOT

•Proficiency with FieldManager, MDOT Standard Specifications, Construction Materials Manual (CMM), Facilities Development Manual (FDM) and Microsoft Office Suite

•MDOT Highway Technician Certification Program (HTCP) certifications desirable

•Good analytical skills, Excellent technical writing and communication skills

•Demonstrated proficiency in organization and presentation of documentation

The salary range for this position is $135,000-$200,000. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
