We are looking for a Manager Applicant Engineering, Mechanical Engineer. This role will lead the application engineering team and contribute as a primary technical resource working with the field sales force to design mechanical and electromechanical solutions for suspended scaffolding and other custom access platforms. Work in conjunction with the sales team as the key technical advisor and product advocate, the Supervisor – Application Engineering must be able to identify and provide reliable solutions, guidance and leadership for all technical issues to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales and product delivery process.

DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

+ Lead and stand-up an application engineering team. Create objectives and provide direction, feedback, and follow-up to application engineers. Develop a succession plan and required training to ensure on-going departmental capability.

+ Lead and actively communicate company policy and imperatives to the application engineering team. Contribute to and lead organization and process improvements to develop better cross-product and cross-company collaboration for customer solutions and product standardization and commonization.

+ Generate or modify designs that meet specific performance criteria.

+ Establish or lead development of product and test specifications, and operation and service manuals.

+ Perform technical calculations, tests and write test reports to assure safe, functional and sound products and systems.

+ Identify product material requirements and interface with supply chain team and operations for the procurement of mechanical and electrical/electronic components for the resolution of technical issues.

+ Develop or possess a wide-ranging knowledge of SafeWorks products and general products in the Temporary Access industry

+ Develop or possess a knowledge of building interface requirements to ensure timely, safe and effective application of access methods in varying applications and contracts, including Permanent Installations.

+ Understand the UL, ANSI and ASME codes and OSHA regulations that relate to the Access/Scaffolding and associated industries

+ Liaise with production activities as required to ensure manufacturability and support of current and legacy designs.

+ Meet with customers, contractors, and architects/engineers from time to time and ensure adherence to regulatory and statutory requirements, professional behavior, and communication.

+ Detailed knowledge of document control methods and requirements.

+ Undertake association and other industry related memberships, and act as knowledgeable advisor for these groups.

+ Maintain and report on Metrics, including Continuous Improvement initiatives

+ Implement training programs for new hires and provide necessary technical training to sales/branch personnel

+ Develop and maintain department Knowledge Base, departmental policies and procedures

+ Collaborate with other Specialized Engineering Departments in Access, Motorized and ISG to standardize our level of engineering service.

+ Accountable for the quality of the group outputs, specifications review, costs, timelines.

QUALIFICATIONS:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, or Civil/Structural Engineering

+ 5 to 10 years related work experience

+ PE license(s): Required

+ Strong knowledge of and experience with Solidworks, AutoCAD and Revit.

+ Knowledge of machining, welding and fabrication methods, and shop practices.

+ Familiarity with materials and components routinely used in access designs.

+ Sound working knowledge of software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, AutoCAD and mathematical analysis software.

+ Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
