Talent Acquisition Business Partner, Recruiting Enablement Leader/ Sr Manager

Reports to: Director, Talent Acquisition

Location: Morristown, NJ. Hybrid or remote work arrangements may be possible

About the Opportunity

You will be a key driver of TA Team's transformation impacting delivery, scope, and impact! In this new role, you will roll up your sleeves, apply your past experiences to manage, monitor, create and deliver solutions suitable for Covanta's diverse needs. You will be a change-oriented problem solver, managing multiple initiatives and solutions.

The Sr Manager, Talent Acquisition Business Partner will manage and lead the strategic as well as tactical recruitment for the Waste to Energy (WtE) / Operations group in US & Canada.

With a team of in-house recruiters, you will be responsible for select roles / locations primarily pertaining to Waste to Energy (WtE) operations, Metals, Transfer Stations, Field Services, Engineering, Maintenance, Procurement, Safety, Sustainability & Environmental business units.

This is a hands-on role with an individual requisition load as well.

Role highlights:
  • TA's bridge with the HR Generalist team; Regional HR Directors in particular
  • Meets weekly with Operations & TA sourcing leaders for dialog on recruiting challenges & solutions - aged reqs, stay current on business.
  • Improves Time to fill; identifies gaps and bottlenecks; breaks down barriers to success
  • Assure facilities have point of contact for recruiting escalations
  • Impact diversity metrics, champion for a diversity interview slate
  • Coach and train facilities on BI, best practices, industry trends, candidate experience.
  • Assess, Coach and mentor designated recruiting contacts for proper sourcing and problem solving.
  • Partner with facility, regional and corporate business heads & HR leaders to proactively assess and develop in-depth and innovative talent acquisition strategies and plans to fill positions
  • Lead and present at Monthly meetings with Department Heads and at other TA review meetings
  • Lead recruitment and pipelining of qualified candidates utilizing a variety of sources and creative recruitment strategies, including social media, military organizations, colleges, recruitment events, diversity channels, industry specific organizations, niche sites, RPO and staffing agencies
  • Oversee the full-cycle recruitment process including, candidate assessments/screenings, interviews, hiring manager referrals, offer development and negotiation
  • Attract and engage high potential candidates while minimizing time-to-fill and maximizing ROI
  • Track and maintain talent acquisition metrics / KPIs including time to fill, aging, diversity hires,
  • Where needed, improve Hiring Manager and Candidate Satisfaction survey ratings and feedback
  • Manage a geographically dispersed team
  • Partner with TA Operations & Sourcing Leaders to improve effectiveness of sourcing solutions

Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree (preferred)
  • 10+ years of experience in talent acquisition
  • 5+ years of experience leading variety of TA initiatives
  • 3+ years of experience in people management
  • Experience with Workday Recruiting (preferred)
  • Experience with RPO (preferred)
  • Experience with recruiting for industrial, manufacturing, engineering, consumer, energy, chemicals, or related industry (Preferred)
  • Travel as needed, expected to be about 20-30% of time

Better for the Environment

Energy-from-waste is a sustainable waste disposal solution that is environmentally superior to landfills. It is a source of clean energy that reduces overall greenhouse gas emissions and is considered renewable under many state and federal laws. EfW projects also lower the risk of groundwater contamination and conserve land.

Covanta supports recycling and programs that enable communities to recycle as much as possible. As part of the EfW process, we recover over 400,000 tons of metal annually for recycling that would have otherwise been lost in landfills. Our modern Energy-from-Waste Facilities are an important element of an integrated municipal solid system that maximizes the recovery of energy and recycles metals while also minimizing the environmental impacts of materials remaining after recycling.

Studies have shown that communities that have an EfW facility typically enjoy higher recycling rates than the national average.1 Why? Processing MSW at Energy-from-Waste facilities for energy generation (steam or electricity) offsets, on average, one ton of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for every ton of waste processed. This occurs by avoiding energy generated from fossil fuels, methane produced by decomposing trash at landfills (methane is an extremely potent GHG - about 25 times more than carbon dioxide) and recovering metals for recycling.
